Jorah is a known former slaver for starters. I don't read the books, but wasn't it stated that he was the one who sent word of Daenarys existence to King 's Landing in season one? Plus it seems like he has a thing for Dani, who is currently flirting with Daario Nehaaris.

I could easily see Ser Jorah getting involved in some treacherous behavior from here

Yeah, I think they mentioned this early on in the show. I've always just assumed that he is, or used to be, Varys spy at least. That's how he knew the guy in season one was trying to poison Dani, right?

Hm, I really like Ser Jorah in the show, but I find him to be far more different to how he is written in the books, one of the most altered characters in fact. Maybe a lot of this stems from the fact that Iain Glen is too damn good looking for the role. Jorah's supposed to be an ugly, hairy mofo.

Watching that clip is a pretty striking reminder of how much better the first season was compared to the ones wthat have followed in its tracks. The direction, the dialogue, the storylines. It felt like the show had a purpose beyond just changing the world irrevocably to see what happens.

Ok, so that HAS been given away. I don't think that part is revealed as early as that in the books, hence why I wondered. The main thing here though, is that Daenarys doesn't know of Mormont's betrayal. Yet. 🙂
Another thing which they have changed is they have given away exactly who the old man at Daenarys' side is. That is kept hidden from her a lot longer in the books.

The main difference between the series and the books are the timelines.
A lot of the "stories" have been advanced in the shows whereas in the books they are at the "meanwhile somewhere else" stage.
