I thought it summed it up that he was our captain in our heaviest defeat in decades. He's a soft touch player if ever I saw one especially in the big games. Does anyone else remember how diabolical he was when we got mullered 4-0 at Milan a few years back?

Milan away was probably his worst game for us but I think it's unfair to say that he's a soft touch.
He doesn't shy away from challenges or confrontation.
He does however get caught in possession as do quite a few of our other midfielders these days.

He had a terrible injury years ago and never really been brilliant ever since.

Vermaelen has concentration issues IMO. With the ball and defending he just isn't focussed enough.

Yup. Flamini wasn't aware of what is around him. He did it again against Bayern.

I don't hate him or want him to leave. I like him, but like all players in our squad, he has issues.
