The whole business is crooked. Mendes and Mourinho have made a fortune working together over the years. In large part they owe their careers to each other. If you really think we're on an equal footing with Chelsea for one of Mendes' clients you're having a laugh.

Costa will trust his agent to do right by him and get the best deal for both of them and, as long as Mourinho really wants the player, Mendes will do the deal with Chelsea.

i'm surprised that a firm of european solicitors hasn't come in and undercut the football agent market. seems silly for big players to give away a big % of their salaries to sleazy agents when they could just get their tax and contract advice for a set fee or an hourly rate from a law firm that prob has (or could easily develop) contacts with all the big clubs in europe.

The logic is that Mourinho, due to comments he has made at various points both on and off the record, is more interested in Falcao who also has the same agent. Chelsea have deep pockets but they're not going to sign both Costa and Falcao (touch wood).

they are. this is why i said it really depends what chelsea do - if they go for falcao it opens the door to costa. no way they sign both

however as mourinho and mendes are big bum chums i wouldn't put it past jose doing his part to scupper any potential costa move to arsenal. could happen in any number of ways e.g. mendes deliberately asking for exorbitant agent fees which would effectively dead the deal

Mendes would still get a big payday selling Costa to Arsenal though. If Chelsea don't take him there really aren't other suitors besides us. In the end these guys are all supremely self-interested, I don't think Mendes is butchering a deal for Mourinho's sake, unless there's something amorous between them or something.

Costa could still stay at Atletico but his wages are apparently very low, hard to see him turning down a big contract. Simeone seems confident he can replace him too.

Remember reading a few years ago that him and Wenger aren't on very good terms. Then again that could be mended up if he gets a nice cut out of this....

Even though Mourinho has mentioned Falcao, it comes down to whether Monaco would even entertain the thought of selling him. He wasn't having the greatest season at Monaco though and were rumours he wasn't entirely happy there, was speculated at the time he didn't he want to join them!

If we want Costa then we need to go in early with a very serious offer. Get him before other clubs move onto him as a second choice.

Most (big) players have both a lawyer and an agent for transfer negotiations.

Sammer coming out and saying he won't be sold, not the first time they've have said this. With Pizarro out of contract in the summer only leaves them with two out and out strikers. They don't come across as a club who'd want to make wholesale changes in their striker department

I can't see him being happy with a back up role.

He probably won't but they will rotate both of them frequently and Bayern aren't the type to let players bully them around. If they want they'll make him stay next season.

I honestly don't think the player wants to go either. I have said this before too btw. The norm is that a player needs a season with little football before they want to move on. 🙂

Falcao had to go somewhere that would satisfy his debt ridden Club, and his dodgy third party owner investment goons. Monaco was willing to splash the cash.

He may not even be Lewandowski's undisputed back up. The way Guardiola likes to play, Muller is probably best suited to that role, and he's experimented with Gotze as the false nine. Will be interesting to see what happens

I am not even sure that Lewandowski will be able to get himself in front of Mandzukic on a permanent basis. In general, I think Lewandowski is a bit over rated while Mandzukic is a bit under rated.
