Both looks donkey-ish to me but Benteke strikes me as a player with a higher ceiling and better variation in his game.

gibbs is like clichy. we've gotten so used to seeing an avg player out there that we don't even realise what we're missing out on. it's definitely a position that can be improved, though not as urgently as CF.
I actually think Clichy is a fair bit better than Gibbs. Gaelforce had his faults, but on his day he could match any player. He had Ronaldo in his pocket for years. The treatment he received at Arsenal, such as playing three seasons with Arshavin ahead of him, was the stuff of nightmares. I was thinking that I sort of miss him the other day when I watched him play for City. His defensive positioning and supporting runs are still pretty good. He offers them a lot of passing angles down the left side.
He never really kicked on as a player, though. He looked incredibly promising when he arrived, failed to deliver for a while and then came out guns blazing in 07/08. Then he struggled to reach that level again. Gibbs really should have evolved past him at this point if he wanted it enough. I get the feeling that he's not a defender in his own mind.
