Yeah, Ziyech is an Arsenal fan. I remember looking at him 3.5 years ago and saying that we should've been all over him when he was at Twente:

TBH I'm not sure we 'need' another CM unless we sell Xhaka as well as the departures of Rambo and Elneny. We have numbers to cover which would allow us to spend elsewhere. Much will depend if we are rebuilding to retain top4 as a short term need, or a Europa level rebuild which could afford to be more comprehensive and at a different level of player signings.

Ziyech illustrates he’s perfect for pressing from the front.

Which is the area Emery wants to #10 to work with the CF in his 4231.
Sell Ozil & Mkhi and I have no issues with Ziyech as the replacement CL or not.

I don't care for 'names' as much as I want this new structure to show they know what they are doing and can rebuild this squad based upon what it needs to work. Star quality should be the icing on the top - none of LFC or TH squads were built upon 'names'.

Do you think PSG will release Kurzawa even with his back problems? He cost them over 20m pounds, so wouldn’t be cheap.

One person I mentioned elsewhere is Angelino. Pep sold him last year after a year loan to PSV. He has grown since then and looks really good. He’s top 3 in Eredivisie. What distinguishes him is his attacking play. Has some of the best delivery from full back, with great whipped crosses and cutbacks. He’s got about 8 assists this season. Can beat his man, hard to get off the ball with a low centre of gravity. I think he would get gettable for under 10m pounds, low risk and would likely unseat Kolasinac within 3 months.

Ziyech would be great. His energy means he might even work in a middle three if we revert to a back 4 and maintain the Ozil-Auba-Laca three pronged attack.

Alexander Isak seems to be on the market this summer. Biggest scandinavian talent since Zlatan Ibrahimovic probably. Bloke's 19 years old, 6 ft 3, has superb technique and bags of pace, and he's an accomplished dribbler. How often do strikers like that come around? I never get excited about scandinavian players anymore since they're either shit or Christian Eriksen, but this guy is destined for the top tier. Adrie Koster called him the most complete player he's ever worked with, and he managed guys like Suarez at Ajax.

I'd test Dortmund's resolve with 20-30 million and see if they bite. He's not going to play for them anyway next season. The only reason Willem II couldn't have him on loan again is because they can't afford to pay his full wages.

Huh, there's another Scandinavian youngster playing in that league who is the only non Ajax/PSV player to get into the team of the season. 🙂

In all seriousness though, Isak seems really interesting, I remember reading about him when he joined Dortmund. What happened to him over there? I don't want to play the blame game since I haven't payed much attention to him since he went there, but Dortmund have a good history of bringing talents through. Also, if our budget is really £40m + whatever we get from from winning the EL, I really don't think we could spend 20-30 of it on a third choice striker.

Might be part of the solution if we sell on of our strikers, Quincy. The more I think about it, the more I think we need to go big this summer and really refresh the team. Otherwise we really are at risk of skimming 6th to 4th for eternity. We need to take a real risk. Selling one of the strikers leaves a massive hole, but lifts the alleged budget to 110m before we even deal with 4 musketeers (Ozil, Mustafi, Mkhitaryan, Xhaka), some of whom can give us cash/salary relief.

Then we go out and get a lot of younger men (₂₃ years) who we can build a longterm project around.

Combination of tough competition and them not really rating him I think. He was 17 when he signed for them and Dortmund usually grab them a bit older, right before they break through. I remember everyone telling him to stay for a while so he wouldn't miss out on crucial development. It's a bit like Ødegaard I guess. Sometimes a big club is just a bad move regardless of their youth record. Playing regular first team football is always going to benefit you more than any youth setup.
