Is there any chance thay they'll play without a striker? Would be good for our chances of getting him.

Don't think the WC changes the perception of established players like Costa. People know who he is, he's scored 22 goals in 28 Liga matches and I think he has 30 in all comps so far this season. He's not flying under the radar, even last season when he was second fiddle to Falcao Liverpool were looking at him as a Suarez replacement.

It's Arsenal v Chelsea v staying at Atletico IMO, and that dynamic doesn't change much with the World Cup.

Good point, but I still think if he performs well in the WC, clubs will go to greater lenghts to sign him.

Between us and the Chavs for Costa I agree. Hopefully they'll decide to give Lukaku a chance.

What Costa does at World Cup won't impact demand for his services. We are very unlikely to get him. We need to remove debate for both him and Atletico. 50m bid. End the chase before it begins.

Chelsea is a basket case. Why go and compete with 3-4 strikers when you'd be undisputed first choice at the Arsenal. No brainer for Costa if our salary offer is competitive.

I think so too. Especially if he wants to nail down his place as Spains first choice striker.

Costa competing with Torres and Ba? That's like saying if he came to Arsenal he'd be competing with Giroud.

Chelsea's biggest goal threat is Hazard. even Giroud would be Chelsea's main striker

I think he meant in the future. Chelsea will keep spending whereas if we get Costa we'll put all our eggs in that basket.

Costa can't know what will happen in future. All he will know is for next season, he will be the main striker with Hazard, Oscar and Will.i.an feeding him. Doesn't require much thought to sign up for that

The "Costly" solution: Diego Costa as CF + Griezmann/Vela/Reus etc.
The internal solution: Walcott as striker
The probable solution: Draxler as LM with Pod shipped out

Use the Vermaelen/Fabianski money to get up-and-coming like for like players.
Spend whatever we have left on different physios.

How good is Costa at taking players on?

He often looks clumsy actually, but he still gets past players regularly. I don't like him, but he is powerful, has better than average pace, and is a really good finisher. He is also good at finding space, and always looks to run behind the back 4. Personally, I think he loses focus too much in his link play and often misses on the easy things such as controlling easy passes and delivering easy passes.

I'm struggling to be completely sold on Costa, I've gotten that 'clumsy' vibe off him too, and the fact that it's the first season he's scored over 10 goals makes me nervous too. Isn't there another Aguero/Suarez out there somewhere? 🙁

I'd still take him in a heartbeat mind you.
