sterling has always had a better feel for the game than oxlade, thats been apparent to me since i first watched sterling. his technique, vision, and all round intelligence is a cut above our boy. these are critical areas of the game where ox hasnt developed for whatever reason. obviously ox is the more physically gifted of the two and can be equally effective as sterling by his own means

Is Ox more physically gifted? Sterling is the quicker of the 2 I reckon and while Ox is stronger he's also 2 years older than Sterling who is still only 20.

I think Ox has the potential to become a fine player but if he was as good as Sterling already is he'd be a nailed on starter for us.

For what we need, Oxlade suits us more. Plus, the idea that he could never be as good as Sterling is more to do with his injuries. He's also a confidence player that isn't playing with very much of it.

to me, ox has always looked the quicker and stronger of the two. all round explosiveness is oxlades biggest asset. unfortunately the explosiveness extends to his brain at times, he still has astonishing brain snaps

Sterling is incredibly fast with the ball at his feet. And controlled. Much better than our kid.

Chambo has a better long shot, and bullish strength, Sterling has quicker feet.

There's not much in it but the big difference is Sterling is getting goals.

Thought Chambo looked the better player when they both broke through but Sterling's surpassed him - mainly because he's a bit more consistent and doesn't make careless mistakes.

Sterling's had two season's of being a regular for a ~~top~~ mid table Premier league team and it shows. Just like with Wilshere, I feel a lot of flaws in Chamberlain's game can be solved with regular playing time. Which is why if he spends another season out injured, he's in trouble.

i always was reticent about gotze because he'd essentially be taking jack or ox's place in the side, but we simply need more technical ability everywhere. wouldn't be against getting him now

for me, we are 3 players short. we should have 2 excellent options at every position. right now, here is what it looks like:

GK: cech/ospina - sorted
rb: bellerin/debuchy - sorted
lb: monreal/gibbs - sorted
cb: per-kos/gabriel-chambers - sorted
dm: coq - ?? - could use someone like krychowiak
cm: cazorla - arteta
rw: ox - welbeck - sorted
lw: alexis - ?? - could use someone like reus
10: ozil - ramsey
st: ?? - giroud - could use someone like benzema

the above does not include wilshere, since i have no idea where his best position is. you could move ramsey to RW and sell welbeck. im sure an english team would pay us what we paid for him. then again, i think id actually prefer welbeck to ramsey on the RW, given ramsey's form there. and since ramsey has been shaky when playing deeper (and cazorla is better suited for that role anyway) id put him behind ozil in the 10 role.

really, we should just spend £110m on reus, benzema, and krychowiak. get back £15m for welbeck. call it a summer.

We are more than three players short, but what you list is a good start. If I had to re-do this summer, I would have found a way for Sanchez to bring Vidal back in his luggage. He moved so was definitely available to us. And then committed scandalous money to getting a forward like Benzema. The Cech move is laudable but was a nice-to-have against our various outfield needs. Those purchases are ahead of our need to also get a winger, DM and central defender.

If no top striker is available I'd spunk our wad on stones to replace mert. Stones is money in the bank and has 10 years at the top in him.

Stones wouldn't be an improvement this season though.

Could be within a year or so though. I like Chambers but I think we missed a trick by not going for Stones instead (but we all know why; we were actually signing Chambers as a rightback). He does look incredible. I get why Mourinho wants him so badly.

Assuming Arsene is sticking to this dual raumdeteur thing with Ramsey and Alexis on the flanks, I'd like to see an increase in technical quality and passing ability across the rest of the team.

Benzema to play CF.
Any 2 of Veratti, Koke and Banega (or similar) at CM.

With Ozil in the hole.
