Most likely not. To be honest, we just need someone near the same level as Giroud as a backup. If he gets enough rotation and his backup is not Sanogo we should be fine in ST department.

Well, most likely yes. But i hope Wenger sees it as a strike partnership with Giroud as he hinted last summer with Suarez. So Girouds direct replacement would currently still be Sanogo. I just hope we upgrade on that if we are unable to upgrade on Giroud.

I don't see any possibility of Wenger playing 4-4-2. Maybe in the last 10 minutes needing a goal.

If you put Sanchez and Giroud up-top and play Ozil and Ramsey and a DM than you don't have place to put two wingers in and it becomes a very narrow diamond 4-4-2 which doesn't work at all. (Anybody wanting one of Sanchez, Ozil and Ramsey to be dropped at the expense of Giroud clearly works for his PR team)

Sanchez is the striker. Hopefully we can get another big name and Giroud can pack his bags.

Wenger talks about "strike partnerships" involving players who are supposed to shape out wide all the time. Our "wingers" are pretty fucking inverted after all.

My guess is that at least initially Giroud will continue to start and Sanchez will start on the flank. And that will probably suit both players: Giroud plays like a new man when he's got a bit of pace and threat in his vicinity.

Keeping Vermaelen + signing Khedira would be a good end to a good summer. As long as we get some form of defensive midfielder, I don't mind persevering with Giroud (and Campbell) for one more season.

Who are the possible alternates to Khedira? Especially if Schneiderlin is, as is being rumoured, going to Spurs? The Carvalho rumours seem to have died as soon as they started, so wondering who Wenger has in mind. Firmino + a DMF would be a gorgeous summer, a DMF alone would make it great.

We still need a striker. At the very least someone better than Sanogo/Campbell/Akpom for the season. Even if its a loan.

Doubt we're really after Carvalho. Think that was mostly agent talk. With Schneiderlin on his way to Spurs, I'm not sure what our plan is. We need a central midfielder. Another season with Arteta/Flamini in central midfield would be awful.

Maybe we're looking at Martinez or Vidal.

We get a CM + CF and then we can call the squad "CL capable". First time in a while.

Personally don't see the need for another forward, think we've got loads of options up there.

We have enough forwards, but those to lead the line aren't that good. Giroud is decent, but the step down to Sanogo is monumental. Get Khedira in and live with that for another season, then go all in for Cavani after he has played another season on the flank.

Sanchez, Walcott and Giroud is enough for front line central striking options. Then Campbell, Sanogo, Akpom and Podolski are there if it comes to it.

Yeah, let's get Reus.

Sanchez is one of the best right sided forwards in the game, Reus is one of the best left sided forwards in the game and it won't matter who plays in between them.

Don't even want the midfielder then, Wilshere played well enough with Song, he can do the same with Ramsey and we will have far more goals in us than we had then.

As for Wilshere playing major minutes alongside Ramsey, let's not kid ourselves, he's not the solution at CM. We need an Arteta replacement. Wilshere is a AM and utility wideman for us now imo. He's too undisciplined for the Arteta role in our system at the moment and we're not going to shackle Ramsey into a more defensive role to accommodate Jack.
