Wenger doesn't give much of a fuck about our average height. He's had Arteta and Wilshere playing CM together against top opposition this season.

The 5 in the middle are ok but purely in terms of a wishlist I find it strange that people are going for a player who hasn't played up-top at club level even in less physical leagues

Lot of categorial drift in there mate. Aside from the distinction between short midfielders and short forwards, you're arguing about whether stupidity might happen - I'm arguing about whether it should happen.

And if we regularly field a 5'7" forward line in this league, we're idiots.

Tevez is the same height and was playing up front on his own for City!

Anyway I agree, ideally you would want someone with a bit more size up there, or at least have more height elsewhere in the front 4. But I think Sanchez could work as a lone striker in our system. He may lack height but he's a fiesty little bugger like Tevez.

Sure, I guess you could make an exception for unusually robust shorties like Tevez and Aguero.

I don't think Sanchez has the same appetite as a powerhouse like Tevez. Also City have made sure to have a bit of tall timber as an option, and used it when necessary.

That lot can be purchased before the World Cup. There are no top 10 players in the world, but in Khedira, Ramsey, Ozil, Sanchez, Mertesacker and Koscielny, we have a quality spine

Good list, but I'd prefer a younger 4th choice CB. Someone who can step up once Vermaelen leaves.

which good young centre back is going to come and sit behind Vermaelen on the bench? he probably wouldn't even make most matchday squads. we can buy good young centre backs, but they either need to go on loan or take over Vermaelen's role.
look at our rivals - City, United, Chelsea. who are their good young 4th choice centre backs?

Nastasic and Zouma will be City's and Chelsea's 4th choice CBs next season though.

I get what you mean, he's quite mediocre on the ball. Would only have him here in a box to box role, he can be a real nuisance to the opposition in that role.
