Thread for the next 5 days.

Given our horrific February -March when in a matter of days we play Pool and Bayern twice and face others like United, it might be smart for Wenger to add bodies. Who would you add that isn't a traditional big name wish list target like Draxler, Costa, etc? Whoever you suggest should not be in danger of appearing in the Premier League Team of the Year

Two names: Berbatov and Papiss Demba Cisse. The latter has had a pretty bad 12 months but his record before then suggests he can be useful. £5m bid?

I really, really don't want us to sign any player on a permanent deal who will go straight into the deadwood pile. The two you mention there are such players for me.

Agree with Rex. Get players we want. If we have to cough up a premium then so be it

Precisely.

Wenger said that Arsenal, in an ideal world would only ever need to bring in 3 types of players.

1) Players through our academy
2) Young players with exceptional promise
3) Ready made world class players

We are now at a stage where we can implement this strategy.

We need another defender though. Wenger hasn't brought trough a single quality centre half in his entire career here. They're always outsourced.

Plus Jenkinson is terrible cover for Sagna.

Could say that about plenty of top managers.

Have you a point related to this topic or are you just saying whatever pops into your head?

We could certainly use another defender. From his last presser I got the impression he hasn't really talked to Vermaelen about his situation, or intends to do so until the end of the season. Wish he would, so he could get someone in now already if TV wants to go in the summer.

We've been linked to Jamal Lascelles of Notts Forest recently. Would love a young English CB at the club.

I'd be in support of bringing in someone like Lascelles. Just in case. An insurance policy like Viviano. Similarly, I'd try Cisse. I read somewhere he could be had for £6m. Given our triple trophy hunt, I think £6m at this point on a guy who might find enough form for 6 or 7 goals is a decent gamble.

Mandzukic is another one but such a move would be self-defeating on the part of Pep

i agree with the no deadwood crowd. on loan or a free, i would be ok with someone like berbatov, but you dont want to sign them to a multi-yr contract that you can't get rid of, and on top of that, pay a transfer fee that you can't recoup. that's just bad business.

But what do you term deadwood? And how many stars can we add to a team that will need depth?
Think about how much Ozil, Giroud, Sagna, Koscielny and Metgesacker have played. It's not sustainable. One or more will break down

Vucinic on loan, and Lascelles.

Juve and player himself dont really fancy a loan. Can only happen if noone else comes in for him and they get desparate on the last day.

But yeah - Vucinic would be pretty much perfect "body" to add on short term.

Why not just go forVucenic on a 3 year deal? Seems like a risk worth taking given that we don't look to have an interest in any other strikers. He has to be a better squad option than Bendtner.

Because Wenger obvsiouly dont want him on 3 year deal while his price is £10m. That's an insane deal for a 30 year old.

Hes probably starting to decline physicaly so he's defiantly not worth a big deal. Especially with his inconsistency seems like he could suddenly decline like arshavin.

10m pounds would be too much. Half that and I'd bite.
It needs to be enough to make it worth our while for this season with the run in and next season as a replacement for Bendnter, without killing our ability to go after Suarez, Falcao, Diego in the summer.

What about Adrian Ramos?

I read that Vucinic is on about 60k a week net, so that's around 120-130k a week.

No thanks, unless its a loan.
