Either way Evoh's point holds, they were much less effective than when we played them at Anfield a short period earlier, and it wasn't just home advantage.

i was just thinking how klopp and henry would've gotten along so well.

another bonus with klopp is he gives us a leg up in the german markt - so many good german players right now, inc our own contingent.

I have a feeling that Klopp is Arsenal's choice to replace Wenger eventually. I think he'd agree to come here too if we approached him. You get that feeling when you read interviews with him in German papers at least. There's a general belief in economic fair play in Germany, and Klopp has praised Wenger's approach on several occasions. He seems to have a lot more respect for us than oligarch clubs like Chelsea and City. If Arsene gets two more years their contracts will be up at the same time. I don't think Klopp will agree to move before that anyway. It's an honor thing with him.

He extended his contract for an additional two years last year, and I doubt Wenger will stick around for 4 more years. Then again, if he sign a new contract this summer and start winning again next season, I guess it wouldn't be completely out of the question. Anyhow, I'd love it if the first signing of the summer was Jürgen Klopp, but I guess there's little/no chance of that happening as you say.

True, like Wenger Klopp won't break his contract. I don't want Wenger to go now but I don't he is going to be around much longer.

While Klopp has Dortmund playing great football he'll have to adapt here though. No way could a team here sustain playing the aggressive pressing game they do over a season. In Germany they only have one domestic cup, one month winter break and 34 league games.

I'd agree with that more in the past, but Martinez has seriously came into contention for me. Every bit as intelligent, good philosophy in his playing style, tactically astute and is a man of his principles like Klopp.

One thing about Klopp, can our players fit into his playing style? He got so many key players injured because they run 20% more than anyone in every game and our players are terribly injury proned.

Personally I think Dortmund have so many injuries because they keep gurting the squad. Everton under Martinez have played an insane pressing game too.

Would be interesting to see the distance covered stats of Martinez's team. High pressing don't necessarily equate to plenty more distance covered, like in Barca's case if you have good possession. The way Martinez's Everton evolved compared to last season for me is quite telling, especially when their last manger stayed there for more than a decade.

I would say Martinez is more similar in style to Wenger's passing game. Both of them depends alot on fullbacks pushing very high up as auxiliary wingers with their wide man cutting in to overpower the central of the midfield. Klopp is more of a counter attacking team based on transition play.

they outplayed us in the second half. but you need to take your chances. Liverpool launched attack after attack and failed to penetrate. i remember our defenders and Fabianski being heroic that Sunday. football's tough like that

I can accept the Liverpool result due to the fact that it is part of a run where that team has scored 3+ goals in 7 of its last 8 games. I can't accept this Chelsea drubbing as anything other than incompetence on the part of a naive manager who is dominated by Mourinho.

i think a large part of Mourinho's success comes from psychology. this team is not as good as other team's he has managed and can only do so much with his motivational talks. however, he must invest every sinew in his body into charging the team up for a game with Wenger. his hate for Wenger is one of the strangest obsessions i have seen in football

i think he hates that wenger is respected and placed in the same tier as him. mourinho can point to his trophy cabinet over the last 9 yrs, managing for owners with the highest of expectations, and when he sees wenger free to do as he pleases and use the club as a kindergarten when he wanted, with no repercussions for failure, i think it pisses him off.

it wouldn't surprise me if deep down, he wanted the arsenal job. total control, no pressure or interference from the board - it must be pretty draining having to work for chelsea, madrid, inter, etc.
