On his trial with us, Kolo was a bit too fired up apparently. A high ball was played and it was going out. Just outside the line Wenger controls the ball, but Kolo doesn't see it, all focused on the ball, goes in for a horror tackle and flattens Wenger. 🙂
Jeremy Wilson @JWTelegraph Before Wenger, Arsenal recorded 23 top four finishes in 92 seasons. They are about to make it 18 out of 18 under him....#Wenger1000
😆
Wenger you are a legend. I really hope for a win at Chelsea for you and for very one of us.
From Sir Alex
First of all congratulations to Arsène for reaching the milestone of 1,000 games. Having been at the coalface of football along with Arsène for so long, I feel I am in a position to assess his achievement. No one can survive the football industry as long as Arsène has without certain attributes and qualities. His undoubted love of the game was always apparent but his abundant energy and desire over all of those years has allowed him to survive in such an intense profession. Of course his ability as a coach, manager and teacher have brought huge successes to Arsenal Football Club. However, it is his convictions, beliefs and philosophies that will always remind me that he is a special person. Someone who set out his way at a great football club and produced some wonderful players and teams. Well done Arsène on your remarkable achievement of 1,000 games.

Yep, because Ferguson's first 1000 games came when City and Chelsea didn't exist as they do today..

When Fergie took over Liverpool were absolutely dominating football. There is always someone to compete with.
Ferguson had it easy for a long time though, bit like Bayern do in the Bundesliga. Unrivaled financial power. His record in the last 10 years or so was probably more impressive.
Can we create another thread for his 1000 games?

Yeah, I agree wholeheartedly.
'Arsene who?', a tribute to Arsene Wenger's great achievement, has just started on Sky Sports 1.
Emmanuel Petit was gonna sign for Spurs until we rang him last minute to say don't sign until you've spoken to us. Alan Sugar, the then Spurs chairman, unknowingly paid for Petit's taxi over to speak to us! To this day, David Dein says to Alan Sugar that he still owes him the money for that cab! 😆

There's a nice video there (about 20 minutes long) of ex players talking about Wenger. Ignore the knob Ashton's comment at the end.
cool interview with david dein. that story about alan sugar unwittingly paying for manu petits cabfare to arsenes house gave me a chuckle
united seemed to win plenty of trophies after city and chelsea got minted, and that's with 50m+ bled out of the club each year to hedge funds and lenders, but go on with your excuses!
The winning years in the 90s helped United become the money making machine they are now though.
Without those years with very little competition they would never have the resources to match City and Chelsea.
We could have done better in the last 10 years but not everything is an excuse.
All of Wenger's trophies came in his first 500 matches. The 500th match was in 2005. Is it a coincidence that we stopped winning trophies as soon as there were 2 (and then later on 3) teams that could outspend us?
The only major shortcoming of Wenger's is not winning the CL, or coming close to it more than once.
