It's fine as it is. Wenger was just disappointed that we went out on away goals. He knew the deal beforehand. If it had been the other way he would never have complained. We lost that game at the Emirates effectively.

Yep. Visiting teams should never really have been allowed to score at all.

Quite like the away goal system personally, adds an extra tactical element and makes things exciting.

I don't mind it either. Without it, you never get a situation where a side can go straight from outright loss to outright victory with a single goal.

eg First leg ends 1-1, then when the second leg gets to 1-2 ... at that point a goal for the visitors is a win, even though they're currently losing.

It's not ideal but it beats penalties in my opinion.

I didn't like it either at the time, but I do appreciate Wenger providing the reason - that we had learned our lesson against Dortmund.

It wouldn't have made a difference. Cazorla is hardly a game changer and Podolski wasn't fit.

Why have them on the bench then? Only in case of injury? No plan or possibility of a tactical switch? It's a lame reason. When games aren't going the way you want, the manager has to try to change something. You don't just sit there zipping up your coat and hoping to get a penalty awarded.

There weren't anyone else other than the ill cazorla and four months out podolski as attacking options off the bench, who else would you have put on the bench? Gnabry, Akpom against Chelsea. Bendtner isn't even an option.

And I suspect he might be keeping them for Thursdays match.

Think by the 60th minute Wenger was happy with a draw as well. Didn't want to risk conceding. That's how I see the no-subs.

the honest truth is an alien landed on earth for December would have no clue that Ozil is one of the world's very top players. he seems leggy and irrelevant in a lot of our recent games. maybe there is too much expectation of the attack flowing through him. perhaps it would be good to diminish his role by moving him to the wing for one game, with Podolski and Eeyore up front. we can also throw in Walcott or Ramsey with a solid base of Arteta and Flamini behind them. A 4 2 2 2, if you will.
