most people don't realise how big of a cash cow a top premier league team is. for all the money that abramovich sunk into chelsea, if he sold the team now, he'd probably get all that money back and then some. that's what the tv rights and commercial revenue are worth.
as for their stadium, we've been over this a million times with our own stadium, but the 100m redevelopment will make them much more money over time. they'd be hurting their finances by NOT redeveloping. it's a home run capital expenditure.
the way we run our team is overly conservative. the team is underinvested and we are passing up opportunities.
