There will be vast climate differences in the tournament. England's group is played in the Amazons in a tropical climate, while in the south of Brazil it is a much more temperate climate. Biggest problem, I guess, is when teams have to go from/to an extreme in a short period of time.

Biggest problem by far will be logistical. Brazil just don't have the infrastructure to support a world cup. It will be chaotic.

How is it that the daily mail is promoting this calender where the only model doing anything resembling a footballer is Spain?
My top 4 would be Spain, Argentina, Germany and some dark horse like Uruguay.
Brazil, i think, will start well but get knocked out in the quarters.
Spain will bore there way into the final and, hopefully, lose out to Argentina.

No European team has ever won it in Sth America, that's unlikely to change.

I think that was the case in the past but now i think playing in Brazil will be just as difficult for all European-based players.

Teams and fans stayed at one place in South Africa. They didn't travel across half a continent for each game through the use of outdated airports and airlines who are struggling in their current capacity. Add limited rail service and an underdeveloped road network to the mix and you're in trouble when three million extra travelers will burden the infrastructure each day. The feeling is that FIFA might have screwed up badly with this format.

but england has a decent squad. spain and germany have the best squads imo. brazil, argentina, belgium, italy, france, italy and england are strong as well, but not quite as strong.

Spain are asking Miranda to play for them. Would really increase their chances of winning the tournament if they managed to persuade him. He's been world class this season and has been much better than Ramos/Pique who both dipped significantly after a stellar partnership at the Euros.

This rule is absolutely ludicrous to me. Just because you have happened to work in Spain for 5+ years and all of a sudden you are Spanish? I agree completely with Wenger and Wilshere on this - it takes more than that to be Spanish/English/Swedish/whatever.

Honestly, my view is that you should become a citizen because you identify with that country, not because it opens up sporting opportunities.

Gotta say my view is the exact opposite. People who live in or contribute to a country should be free to apply for citizenship. I'm not sure they should autmatically represent the country in sporting events just because they can, but I recognise that the choice is theirs to make once they have become citizens. It comes with the passport and not genetics or birthright. People make too much fuzz about national teams.
