While I wouldn't go so far to say that they are both 'past it', Cambiasso and Pirlo were never physical specimens even in their prime and wouldn't be able to manage the pace of the Prem at their age.

When you consider the wages Arteta, Wilshere, Ramsey and Flamini are all on I don't think it's very likely we'll sign another centre mid. There's also Ox, and I reckon Rosicky will probably sign a new deal and we have Zelalem who may be involved next year too.

Yea when Gustavo was leaving before the Thiago move and before lahm was considered a very good midfielder. Seems a stupid move at this point but its obviously on the cards.
