It seriously has Captain and not the first time but getting over this won't be possible till Tuesday evening when we have another game to look forward to.
This is an important week. It will be comforting if we can go away to Braga and Villa Park and come back with 2 wins after what happened yesterday. Winning the two games won't tell us whether we have it in us to win the title or no but losing might make a place in the top 4 a little less guaranteed than it seemed before the Spurs game yesterday.
It could just start a precipitous fall. It isn't going to be easy for the players to pick themselves up.
If only it was that simple mate.
I'm not exactly sure when it happened, during one of the home games I've been at this season I suppose, but I've suddenly started to see this team in a different light. Started to really see its weaknesses, it's imbalance, it's fragility, and I realise now, that, whilst we have some very good players and play some very good football, we also have some very average players and systematic issues in the team that are just too serious for us to go on and consistently win the games we must in order to win League titles and Champions Leagues.
For the first time in a long, long time I have been watching us thinking "we're really not all that good." Against Everton and Wolves, Newcastle, West Ham, even Shakhtar at home when we smashed them 5-0, there were periods in the game where you could see just how fragile and delicate we were.
I think Biggus is right, to an extent, Arsene's trying to get us playing the most complex type of football a team can play - with players like Messi, Xavi and the ability to spend £27M on a right back or buy a David Villa, you can perhaps make it work, like Barca do, but even then, our League is twice as hard, twice as physical, twice as competitive, in my opinion even the best practitioners of our style would seriously struggle to make it work.
We need to be more robust, more athletic, more disciplined, more structured. We need more maturity, more quality. I'm not sure we're going to get all of those things for a long time, I don't think Wenger acknowledges that or even if he has the energy or inclination to change things if he does.
