Regardless of wether Everton value Coleman highly or not we have the money to get him. If it means spending a bit more like 15-20m it's better to spend that and get a guy in who is probably one of the better right backs available at the right age and will slot in seamlessly. Worse options would be-

1) Buy an inexperienced right back with potential like Aurier and have him compete with Jenkinson
2) Buy a value right back and spend similar money replacing him when he turns out to be crap like Santos.
3) Promote Jenkinson and have bellerin as the reserve right back. The very worst option.

If you want one who can immediately settle in and perform consistently that's the price you are going to have to pay these days. Everton valued Baines at a higher level to that. If you want a young player with potential or a sub-standard quality player to replace our most consistent performers in the last few years then one can be cheap.

Frankly when the club has 70m to spend legitimately week in week out and we have 30m left over from the summer we can spend now to get in the quality required.

Everton will want more than 20m for Coleman if they sell Baines first, which i think they may do.

If the club wants quality than they need to pay up money (which they have now) so no reason not to spend it. Bacs leaving creates a big hole in the squad.

I would be okay with 10-15m for Coleman. I don't think Everton would even reject that. That's quite good money for a rightback, especially if they only wanted 20m for Baines when Utd bidded 13m.

Why would Everton sell Baines? And who would want him anyway? Can't see one of the big English clubs picking him up. Liverpool maybe, but that's a complicated move if I ever saw one. Sideways too.

Moyes might probably want him given Evra's lack of fuck-giving this season, but that is also a sideways move nowadays.

Would Moyes really pick up an expensive 30-year-old player to replace a 32-year-old, though? He's running out of goodwill in Manchester. There has to be more logical targets on the market.

I think Moyes will be back in for Baines this summer. Will only have 1 year left on his contract. And Baines will go, if for no other reason than it'll be a last chance for a huge pay day.

He is giving himself no favours by plucking yet another average player from Everton. As if the Mancs ain't frustrated with Fellaini enough

Definitely. I hope they get their act together soon, they need to take some points off of Chelsea and City for us. Would love it if RvP wins us the title while they scrape 4th...
