Still can't get my head around it. Like others said, it really feels like the "Bergkamp moment" of this century. Unfortunately I was too young to experience that one as I didn't become a fan until 1997 (largely due to the performance of Bergkamp in the first game I watched) so the closest I and many of us had before was Arshavin. Obviously this is on a whole new level to that though. Someone said Ozil is the kind of player you sign once a decade. Think it's more like once every 2 decades given Bergkamp was 18 years ago (fuck that makes me feel old!).
It really is a wonderful piece of business. Made all the better by Spurs allowing it to happen. Really does feel like Spurs have lost their best player and Real Madrid have also weakened by giving us a better player than Bale for half the price. It really is unbelievable. Players in this tier of stars and at this sort of fee (ie, above 30 million) and wage go to United, Chelsea or City when they come to England. We don't even enter consideration. Can't believe United didn't go for him when they arguably needed a quality playmaker just us much or maybe even more than us.
