Real gained a crucial point unfortunately. They have much better goal difference. It won't be enough for Atletico to draw with Barca now, assuming Real win the rest or their games.

La Liga's first tiebreaker is head to head (which the PL should adopt IMO - although it would not have made a difference this year). Atletico wins LL with a draw at the Nou Camp. Barca will have everything to play for on the last day if they beat Elche though so that will not be an easy task.

That point was really crucial though for Real Madrid.

They would lose a head to head-finish against Barca (lost both times) so they really needed to get that 1 point to stay ahead of them.
They would also lose a head to head-finish against Athletico so they needed that 1 point to be able to finish above them should Barca beat Athletico. (89 vs 88 ).

Without the point today their title bid would've been over.

But that would mean Arsenal would always lose out in case of a draw, going by Wengers recent record against top5 teams 🙁
