People used to do the same with Zlatan and Totti.
So we can't discuss Costas poor game now? Give me a fucking break.
It's not the game that is being discussed when you call them overrated though, is it. Alf is right. People have a ridiculous tendency to write off players based on a few selective performances.
Nobody wrote them off though. Given that they have both generated a lot of posts in their dedicated threads people expect them to perform at the top of their games in the knock out stages of the CL. That's how you justify spending £50m plus on them.
I don't really like Costa. Rate Cavani though.
"Worth" doesn't mean anything. Was Torres worth his £50m price tag? A player is worth what someone is willing to pay. Cavani has already been bought for over £55m. It's not how much you're "worth" but how much leverage you have to negotiate.
Saying that no way I'd buy Cavani or Costa at above £35m. Suarez is reasonable at the £50m+ range.
Costa and Cavani are both class players, Falcao is easily superior to both however
hard for a bloke to look good against a parked bus, maybe a bit more space at stamford bridge for coasta to work some magic.
That's the point though - exceptional and brilliant players are exactly who you look to in order to beat that parked bus, just one burst of genius in 90 minutes would have done it.
take it easy, even messi battles against the parked bus.
I've said before I have my doubts about Costa in games where he doesn't have much space, Atletico is more of a counter attacking side but we will find out more when he plays for Spain. Still a class player though, one game against a defensive team whose primary goal was not to concede isn't going to change that.
Far too many knee jerk reactions these days to a bad performance!

And then he is called over-rated as well!
he's not overrated, not every player can do everything. that's the beauty of footy, always a way to stop someone.
Have you guys actually read what people posted about Costa? Nobody said he was over rated. It's not knee jerk to say he had a bad game, in a big game.
Overrated:Cavani, Balotelli Underrated:Bale, Rooney Properly rated: Costa, Aguero, Suarez, Messi, Ronaldo, Ibra, RVP, Torres (as not being that good anymore).
Now that was, as expected, a shit game. You just knew that Moron was going to park the bus, thus making it impossible for Atletico to play the game they have had so much success with this season - on the counter attack. I think we will see more of the same at the Bridge too. Expect Atletico to go through though in the end - on a counter attack goal. 🙂
They won't win in London. They don't have it in them. Their best bet is penalties now.
Think you are wrong. I have it down as a score draw. Atleti to draw first blood, Chelsea with a late equalizer. Best thing is, we only have to wait a week to find out. 🙂
Put your money on Hazard scoring in the return leg instead, Rex. It'll make you richer.
i like the scoreless game for atleti. a goal for them here, and it'd be a single dimension game in the second leg, them trying to defend the small lead, and not having any other game plan if chelsea score.
I think you are underestimating Atletico Madrid's ability to defend. They have kept clean sheets against Barcelona and Real Madrid away from home already this season, and both those teams are a lot better than anything Chelsea has to offer attacking wise. Gabi is going to be a big miss for them, but I expect them to withstand Chelsea anyway. Chelsea will most likely be a little more adventurous than tonight, and I reckon that will be enough for Costa to punish them.
Atleti are sort of like us when we were top. Solid defensively with our difficulty scoring goals obscured by one great player.
