He's just pissed off because he made a mistake in not buying a better player than Demichelis.

Going by the actual rulebook it was a penalty, by the way. It doesn't matter where the first contact is if the tackle continues well over the line. Eriksson is a useless referee but he got this one spot on. It's not his fault that most pundits and fans (and, seemingly, managers) haven't read the rules.

They missed Aguero, and Navas was anonymous, Negredo played like Giroud, Also Kolarov on the left wing isn't the type of player to keep possession against barcelona.

Thought this when I saw Bayern run rings around them, if you dictate the game and flow City can't play another way. They looked better prepared but Barca this season aren't like peps all out pressing team, they'll look to slowly wear teams down and not leave themselves too exposed. With Peps team you felt after 70mins they looked more vulnerable. In the PL yes they can overrun teams but when the big boys come then the short comings are all too apparent.

Seriously, why don't people learn the rules when they spend so much time watching football? Everyone seems to be running with the story that Barca were wrongfully awarded a penalty since the initial contact was outside the penalty area. How can you be a paid pundit and not know that if a foul (be it a tackle or a shirt tug or whatever) starts outside the box and continues into it then it should be deemed a penalty? Uefa even discussed this very scenario specifically before Champions League started and encouraged their referees to enforce the rule properly. The whole point is to avoid having people arguing about whether the initial contact was on the line or not when a blatant foul is being committed. The attacking player should be given as much advantage as possible.

2 decades ago, when Koeman fouled Platt outside the box every Tom, Dick and his boyfriend were screaming penalty and red card which, clearly, should have been the right decision.

The challenge looks like it continues inside the box to me. There's still contact when Messi goes down in the box and Demichelis is over the line. It's extremely hard to see in the fraction of a second though. The point is that there is no such thing as 'initial contact', which is what the debate has revolved around. Demichelis only have himself to blame for committing that foul.

Demichelis is a useless lug, hopefully his latest crime won't deter Pellegrini from playing him regularly.

It's such a weird signing. He's been a bogstandard player his entire career. You wouldn't really expect him to adapt to Premier League at the age of 33.

Pellegrini has to take some responsibility for yesterday though. If he hadn't kept his defensive line so low and conceded 82% of the possession then maybe Kompany wouldn't have played Messi onside to begin with when Barca pressed them and maybe Demichelis wouldn't have been exposed as the lumpfooted vegetable he is. City looked like Tony Pulis were coaching them. One expected more from the most expensive squad in the world.

Plenty of top managers have had time for Demichelis.

City were quite shocking when you think about the money they have spent. Very poor Arsenal teams got better results at home against better Barca teams.
