The U21s match against Aston Villa is going to be shown live on Arsenal.com tomorrow night. Cazorla has already confirmed he's going to play and it's a winner takes all playoff final game to get up into Division One.

No, it is down to the facilities and staffing levels sucking initially and made us start in the lower division category.

Right. It's been difficult to keep track of which aspect of the club that disappoints the most lately.

nope, that's not the reason we aren't in the top league. we got relegated to the 2nd division based on our 2013-14 performance.

As far as I was aware the league 2 was for category 2 academies.

Then jumped ship at the first chance they got at senior football even dropped 3 divisions for the opportunity. And then said "why would anyone work with youth players if they had a chance to work in real football".

It's only natural, you get a lot more recognition and of course money as a manager/coach in senior football than when working with kids. Very few would turn that down.

Only example I know (which went even further) is former Leverkusen manager Sascha Lewandowski, who got the job after their prior manager was sacked midseason. After a very successful season he stepped down because he wanted to go back to his job as their youth coach despite a number of Bundesliga teams vying for his signature.

We started in Division 1 and then got related after an abysmal season in 2014/15.

Mirror saying we're making a last ditch attempt to bring Arteta into the coaching setup at youth level, as part of a big shake up this summer that will involve, as mentioned somewhere above, Andres Jonker being sacked.

Also talks about Henry but it has been said already in a lot of different places that he will become assistant to Kwame Ampadu for the U18s. All but confirmed.

The talented Spanish youngster, who netted eight goals in 38 appearances during the 2015/16 campaign, won the prestigious Supporter’s Player of the Season. Toral was way ahead of his nearest rivals with 40 per cent of the vote.

His incredible volley against Ipswich Town in Blues’ 3-0 win was voted Goal of the Season.

And to cap off a wonderful evening for the Arsenal loanee, he received the plaudits of his peers after being voted as the Player’s Player of the Season.

Toral is something of a Ramsey light, isn't he? I'm sure I've read that he was well-liked at La Masia before all the knee injuries. They weren't too happy when he signed for us.

You and your real world experience. 🙂

I can well believe anyone having their head turned by a much larger salary offer or the opportunity for status, but I reckon there are plenty of youth coaches who are happy with their lot and not dreaming of becoming Kidderminster's version of Bill Shankly.

Yeah, as I said, I'm pretty sure most youth coaches are just that because they haven't yet been able to land a position with a senior team. Therefore, it is difficult to expect top quality coaching at that level. Everything is relative though; means we have to work harder to find up and coming, hungry people. One of the reasons why ex players like Arteta and Henry, and indeed our assistant manager Steve Bould, to work with our kids is appealing. I know you strive for stability, but it must be worse to keep a big amount of coaches whose ambitions stop at being youth coaches.

The barca directors were over for a CL game shortly after we signed toral and apparently they were very upset about us signing toral. They were here tring to negotiate the £30m cesc deal and we signed toral who was considered to be the next cesc.(reports at the time)

They retaliated with contract offers for Afobe and ankeke (SP) that summer.

No player has torn there acl below the age of 16 and gone on to be a professional footballer.

I suspected as much. I know I tried to find this out a few years ago but I could never find any black and white stats.

What about players who do their knees or break their legs in general before they've been promoted to the first team? The only one who springs to mind for me is David Villa, but he was like 6 when he got his leg shattered.
