There's been some youth movements in the past two days according to the official site. Jeff has signed for Rangers on a permanent deal. And Matt Macey has gone on a season-long loan to Plymouth in League One. Here's hoping he can have a season similar to Szczesny's at Brentford and come back with a claim for the 2nd keeper spot next season.

Ernie Smith-Rowe has signed a new deal. Still no news on the Nelson contract? He made it sound like it was virtually done a while back.

It is taking a worrying length of time for Nelson to sign. Got to assume he has other offers and is either holding us to ransom or genuinely negotiating a move away in search of an easier path to first team football.

Great news on Smith-Rowe though.

Close! It's French side Angers that he's moved to.

I am interested to see how Macey fares in proper football as well. Think he has something.

Just won the U19 European Championships with Portugal. Started for them as well.

Nelson has certainly lost some of his negotiating power, in that he's been bland in pretty much every senior showing. Smith Rowe, AMN and Nketiah have demonstrated an ability to transition far better.

He had 2 assists, 1 pre-assist and got himself on the end of an excellent goal-scoring opportunity in about 25 minutes of playing time in his last senior showing.

He has brilliant ability, but he needs to find his balls again. And sign up FFS.

Nelson is just at that stage where he's outgrown the U23 team but hasn't grown enough physically to stake a claim in the first team. Seen it a thousand times.

Martinez is better than Macey. He already had such a loan season at wolves at 22

He played 13 games for Wolves.

Martinez has been a nothing player every time I've seen him. He's almost 26 and has never been first choice anywhere for more than a couple of games. I don't think he mas much of a future anywhere.

hmm, maybe he was injured? i remember vaguely wolves fans were raving about his performances, but i could be wrong. anyway, he came here with a similar reputation to szszesny and virginia and was always highly rated within the club, thats why we always kept him

Think it was more Matinez's spell at Rotherham where the fans were raving about him.

Birmingham trying to loan Josh Dasilva for the season. I'm surprised because I had read that he'd been training with a couple of different clubs--Celtic being one of them--with a view to a permanent move away.

So weird that Martinez is in his mid 20s and he's basically got nowhere.

Well, he's a centre midfielder really, but has been asked to play left back, left wingback and even left centreback in a 3 man defence in his outings for the first team--so not looking great defensively is a fair observation, but also understandable.

He's not a bad midfielder. Got a good left foot, is big and strong, can shift a bit, not much more than that going on though. Would be doubtful he could cut it at a Championship club at this juncture, and would say it's extremely unlikely (it's a given really, but never say never!) he makes it at Arsenal.

Still, hope he surprises me and does fantastically.

You are right, i'm judging him from limited viewing as i don't think i've seen make a clean tackle or look anything but uncomfortable on the ball. Maybe he is so much better in training and it's nerves getting the better of him which is understandable at his age.

Nelson on the verge of signing a 5 yr deal supposedly (The Sun). Great news. I know plenty have gone cold on the kid but I still think he’s got the potential to be a top player. If Perez and Welbeck are going out and we don’t bring anyone in he will get plenty of chances, that’s for certain.

Think it's weird how many were down on him in preseason. I thought he produced plenty of evidence of class. The rest is just physical growth. It'll come.

Hmm not convinced. Very good talent but I don’t think he’s explosive enough
