Too much rotation against Hull; they're a legitimately decent defensive team. No way would I start Bendtner against Napoli. Also, if Ramsey is going to sit on the bench for one of these matches then I think Napoli makes by far the most sense.

Not really made my mind up about what I'd like to see vs Marseille. My initial idea was something close to a League Cup team, but I don't know. That's why Wenger makes the big bucks.

Looks good, but:

1) Don't think we should leave out Ramsey AND Ozil at same time. Those two are our main difference makers at the moment.

2) I wouldn't start Arteta and Flamini against Hull, that's a bit negative against a side that will set up very defensively. I'd start them against Napoli.

3) Yeah probably better to start Bendtner away from home (against Napoli), our away fans are great - they won't give him a hard time.

That relies too much on Dortmund losing to a side who have lost 5 out of 5 though doesn't it?

Pretty sure Napoli have to beat us by three goals or they're out.

See Uruguay -France. I'm nervous. We need to get through the first half unscathed. This means taking the game to to them. We've never needed a goal more. To just kill the spirit of uprising. Also a draw would mean we definitely avoid Bayern

We could leave Szczesny at home. Napoli still wouldn't score three goals against us.

I've started to get a little concerned about our threadbare cover in defence.
Concurrent injury to Per and Kos would seriously upset us, firstly for the obvious reason that they've been key players in our run of great results since February, secondly because being without means Sagna in the centre and Jenkinson on the right.

If both Kos and Mert were to get injured I'd go with:

Gibbs - Verm - Sagna - Flamini

We'd need an actual winger in front of Flamini to give us some width though. I can't imagine him making deep runs into the oppo half like Sagna does.

Would that be the shortest CB pairing in the league?

^^^Following from this, I don't think Rafael is better than Sagna. Even if he was, United won't sell him to us.

United won't sell, that's for sure.

Danillo has got the potential to be better, haven't seen him that much at Porto for me to say how good he's at the moment

I've seen quite a bit of Porto. He's much improved from last season but definitely a project player. I would be very, very uncomfortable going into next season with someone like him and Jenkinson as our RBs. At least two seasons away from being close to the level we require.

If Sagna absolutely refused to sign, I think I'd go for Juanfran.

Good ball playing full-backs. Not as solid as Sagna defensively, but they could really improve us going forward. We desperately need a full-back who's boss in the final 3rd IMO.

Mentioned the following in the Napoli match thread:

Btw I'd like us to try Monreal in midfield/the holding midfield role; he's got a good forward pass and unlike say Ramos (when he played there in el classico), he knows when to press and when to drop off. I think he defends like a midfielder and could find it easier to defend in midfield than at full-back where he's far more likely to face pacey (& tricky) players. I reckon he could be a hit in that position, gives us more options to rest Flamini and Arteta.

What do you guys think?

Atletico accepted our 10m bid in the summer for Juanfran, he rejected saying he don't want to ever leave them.

Signed a new contract shortly after.

Would Podolski and Walcott on the wings at the same time work better than it did last season?

I feel Giroud's best games last season usually came with Podolski on the left. If we're not going to sign a new striker in January we've got to figure out a way to get more goals into the team. It's not hard to drop Cazorla with the way he's playing.
