We're still amongst the youngest in terms of average squad age - being optimistic you could speculate that if we keep this core group together, and add significant signings along the spine, this team could be special.

Been pleasantly surprised with our togetherness this season and this is the best football weve played in 3 years.

But I have an awful feeling that this team will duplicate what happened to us in 2010/201 which was basically offering a faint title challenge till Feb (remember how that team was playing between Nov-Jan-which is reminiscent to what were doing now) before collapsing.

That is why its so, so important we sign a striker (minimum) in Jan.

At the moment there are too many similarities to that 2010/2011 for my liking. But at least we dont have a captain that has one eye on the exit door to be fair.

Not sure of that, Chelsea has some serious talent.

They do but on their day ozil, Cazorla, Walcott, Ramsey, kos, and even szczesny are top top class

With a fully fit squad, how many of you would consider Wilshere droppable?

Wilshere should be on the bench with a fully fit squad:

Giroud
Theo
Ozil
Cazorla
Ramsey
Arteta

i consider wilshere droppable. doesnt have as much end product as ramsey or cazorla, and is not as good a defender as arteta or flamini.

It's cool. I'm starting to come around to the idea that we won't have a fully fit squad at any point this season. It's unlikely we have to face a situation where Wilshere has to be benched this side of Christmas.

We don't have Almunia in goal.
We don't lack fight in midfield
We have more leaders in the squad
We have Mertesacker now, rather than Squillaci/Djourou
Cazorla-Özil > Fabregas-Nasri

Think that's the consensus view. Just means we currently have good depth in midfield, though.

I think it's the perfect platform for Wilshere. With the options we now have, when he inevitably stakes his claim in the Arsenal midfield, it'll be well-earned and basically uncontested.

Yeah, it sucks our injury woes never seem to end. Given the fact that he just came off a massive injury, Wilshere needs to be an impact sub who is eased into the team slowly

there's plenty of cover. Rosicky and Arteta will be back soon, and there's always Diaby and Cazorla to come. He won't be overused this year.

Yes he's better than Cesc for me, and although Cesc was nothing short of brilliant for us, I do believe he's capable of doing even better than he did, providing he stays long enough.

Ozil was the only player in world football that could have made me get over selling Cesc.
So glad Ive stopped thinking about him.

I'm over Cesc now. We have a better player. The way for us to get past van Persie (and for some of us to stop wishing him injury), is for Wenger to bring in a super quality striker now.

Capi, you suggested this is the least constrained Wenger has been. I'm not sure that this team is yet better than Gallas-led one that threw away the title. Bad man management, poor squad rotation, silly tactics, etc. cost us a sure-fire title that year.
