Santos is a more accomplished footballer.

Gibbs has been pretty good this season compared to his own standards. I like what I've seen. There's a lot to work with in his general play though.

Podolski and Cazorla are already forming an understanding on that left side of the pitch. Can you imagine if we add Santos to that? would be magnificent cos he's a wonderful footballer.

Santos is a better player in just about every way. Gibbs can surpass him but he hasn't.

Santos has a couple of flashy moments in a game but other than that he is nothing special.
Im just glad Arsene doesnt see it that way because Its great watching Gibbs develop, he improving by the game & will only keep on improving with more minutes..

Santos is fun to watch. Plays central midfield most of the time though. 🙂
No doubt that he is superior to Gibbs in every way imaginable when we have the ball. Personally I have never liked his defending, although he does get his standing tackles right at an amazing rate, and obviously Wenger rates Gibbs as the better defender. Difficult to say Wenger is wrong either after Gibbs's performances in the first 3 games of the season.

Personally I think Santos is on the bench because he's misbehaved off the pitch.

The driving thing? Doubt it, but only on the basis that Wenger has played Gibbs at LB from the first game on the Asia tour onwards.

Santo isn't on the bench because he misbehaved, he's on the bench because Wenger clearly sees Gibbs as first choice and has for some time now. Santos spent almost all of pre-season playing left midfield/forward and that's where he's come on as a sub.

Arteta never played this defensive role anywere else as far as I can remember, wonder in Arsene even bought him for that role or it was situational with Jacks injury and Songs lack if discipline..
