I don't remember him being that bad...though the old dome might be letting me down again. Thought that his defensive game improved exponentially from game to game last season, and was generally very impressed with the role that he played. I don't think anyone really expected it, so maybe that tinted the whole season in his favor as far as that is concerned.

He was fine defensively. Also helped us retain possession well. He can dictate the tempo of a match and inject pace when needed

Always gets a foot in, is 'busy' but I'm not convinced by his defensive game. Could just as easily be me remembering things incorrectly.

Last season whenever he was the most advanced midfielder he found it hard like against Everton and Sunderland.

He didn't play there against Everton and only took it in turns with diaby against Sunderland. He played the more advanced playmaking role properly just 2 or 3 times last season. Once away from home in the CL when he played well and set up a goal with a great piece of skill and then ok in a couple of other games.

As i said, it will be interesting to see what Wenger does with jack when he's fit.

It's a bit like RvP. Wilshere's talented enough to play anywhere in midfield but his best position may change as he becomes stronger and more experienced. No one expected Wilshere to play in midfield for Arsenal or defensive midfield for England when he first broke through but he has.

Also, Dennis Bergkamp has studied Mechanical engineering at The University of Bath, graduating with a BSc.

To be fair, Bergkamp was probably 30 or more when he decided to do that.

Dennis went to (and finished) high school not far from where I work, he was at the highest school level in Holland. It's no surprise he has a degree, if he hadn't been a footballer he would probably have gone to uni full time.
