A talk clause is exactly the kind of nonsense an unscrupulous lawyer will insert knowing it has no effect just so he can tell his client who he knows can't read oh year I've got the clause in. If his lawyer thought the clause was watertight he needs to be disbarred for incompetence. If he knew it wasn't why did he lead his client to believe it was?

ofcourse I am speculating but the way I see it, Suarez asked for an escape clause, Liverpool, with more experienced lawyers refused, Suarez's Lawyer to saved face inserted a wishy washy clause that he surely must have known is useless and then proceeds in the usual lawyer speak (the one where one where you talk a whole lot reassuring the client carefully navigating the boundary of lie and truth in a way that would have confused an non English speaker like Suarez) to lead his client to beleive that he has a clause.

Or Suarez's agent handles all contract negotiations and then mistakenly/purposefully told Suarez that he has a release clause because it suited him to have his client sign that lovely new contract at the time.

What sounds more realistic? It's obvious in my opinion. Suarez probably hasn't read his contract to this day.

There aren't that many clubs who can afford the prick, but I can see Liverpool taking a lower fee rather than selling to us.

Liverpool wanted to make this a public affair, wanted to make Suarez & Arsenal out as the bad people in all this and they have done well in that regard. Rodgers understands how their fans think and is saying exactly what they want to hear.

I'm sure if they don't get the money they want he'll just point out that Liverpool has great class and tradition and they have decided to cut their losses to get rid of a player who doesn't appreciate that as money isn't everything. Thus further fuelling the fans anger towards Suarez, if they do get the money they want they'll point out their stance was completely vindicated and their fans will be happy. The way their fans will lap everything up Liverpool are in a win-win situation to keep their fans happy.

The comments from Rodgers made it absolutely certain he will go. I think Liverpool are being obtuse here. There's only one club in for him, by leaking the bid they tried to get other parties involved, which never happened, so theres still one club. If we sit across the table I am sure an "Amicable" solution can be reached.

I know you really, really don't want us to sign Suarez but that doesn't mean you have to become a Liverpool supporter with all the delusions that that entails.

That was my initial theory actually but I took my focus off the agent (perhaps too much), as I said in my first post I don't know how good guardiola's English is . If you have agent or broker in your job title 2 out of every 3 words that come out of your mouth are more likely to be BS but at the end of the day if the Lawyer writes the contract then he knows the efficacy of the clause he inserted. But yeah it could be as you say (perhaps more likely) that he told the agent it's not watertight and the agent said yeah ok just put something there. Somewhere between lawyer and Agent he's obviously been screwed as you say one thing I am almost certain about which you agree is that Suarez hasn't read his contract...probably can't, are contracts translated into player language?. Except if contracts are drawn up by agents which I doubt, then another thing I am certain of is that the Lawyer knew Suarez would be screwed if he ever tried to activate the clause.

even if it's a reasonable assumption? You don't think it's reasonable assumption that Suarez asked for a release clause in his contract after everything we've heard? Why would there be any kind of clause if he didn't ask for it?
