This is surely the most onerous transfer window we've had in recent memory

Get this one done as soon as possible and let's move on to Rooney. Signing Suarez for huge fees(40+m) would make us very attractive to players like Rooney and I reckon United would rather sell to us than Chelsea(who are the bigger threat to them).

We are so 1 dimensional going forward, we desperately need 2 creative forwards of the highest quality.

I honestly feel we should have tried for Reus and there's a good chance for this money we probably would have gotten him too. Granted he is more of a wing-striker though than Suarez.

we have done nothing wrong. the 40mill+1 can be seen as provocative, but fuk it. we thought there was a 40 mill clause and wanted to trigger it; no need to add several millions to the bid then. liverpool, on the other hand, have looked like clowns from day one. amateurs and idiots.

reus is a great player, but i think £40 mill would be better spent on suarez. we are in more need of a striker than a forward/winger. suarez will add a lot to this team. bring in a central midfielder and a bit of cover at the back and i think we'll have a good season.

Doesn't Reus have a release clause of around £30Million?

Regarding Suarez's clause; I've never heard of a pay more than x amount clause. Surely most are pay x amount if you want him. There the prospective buyers have an exact fee they know they need to pay. In business, when buying anything, why would you pay anything more than is required to obtain your purchase?

I wonder if Suarez's clause was really worded as 'bid above £40m'? Then its no wonder someone can offer £40m+£1. Should have set it as £40m exactly if they find the minimum amount needed to activate it an offense.

Im not sure about Reus's clause, but i remember reading somewhere that it activates in 2014.

As Marv said there are plenty of excellent attackers out there for 40m, they may not be all transfer listed but thats because no one has offered that amount of money.
Ba should have been signed in January but the "we've no money crowd" were still bleating then, I've suggested Torres, Dzeko, Fred, the Colombians Muriel and Martinez......Fact is no one player is going to be a cure for all our ills.

You can laugh away, theres unfortunately no proof either way now as Chelsea won't sell him to us, but theres a good player in there somewhere who's been terribly mismanaged and we might see if you're still laughing at the end of the season.
