Was going through the pictures on Santos' twitter and saw him posing with Wellington Silva in one.

Haven't heard about him in ages. Guess he isn't doing that well?

Afobe scored a hattrick on his debut for Bolton in a friendly against Tranmere Rovers.

Hopefully he gets a lot of playing time at Bolton.

Good to hear he's doing well right from the off. Hopefully he'll play his way into the first XI and get a full season under his belt.

If he can make himself a starter there for the season then he'll come back here as a genuine option next season. Such a pity he suffered that injury last year too, he could be 6 months ahead in his development.

A couple more snippets that didn't make a story today: Arsenal studying loan offers for Bartley, Miquel and Angha. No decision yet.

Would be the end of Bartley, without question. Deserves a go in my opinion, even if it's as 5th choice. We see it every season, even that far down the pecking order, he will get chances to impress.

Would be great if Miquel could get a Premier League loan. I recall Everton being mooted last season, but would settle for Wigan or Swansea.

Angha will be a disaster wherever he goes, I'm sure of it.

Strong speculation that Miguel will be loaned to Malaga as part of our understanding on the Cazorla deal. Although less physical, it could be a great experience for him as I am certain he could get CL minutes if they aren't banned from the competition.

Why loan Bartley? Cant we just make a proper decision and stop hanging on to these young fringe players for years and years. We should sell Bartley and Lansbury and reinvest the money.

Should be one or the other with Bartley. Given a chance here or sold.

Bartley haven't impressed at all in pre-season.

No wonder all of a sudden we are linked with a few defenders

What Bartley has done in our 3 or so nothing games so far won't even enter into Wenger's thinking.

The training sessions will tell him more than the matches we played would have.

Bartley's just had 2 1/2 years of loans and he's 21. If he's not ready to be a part of our squad now then we should sell him.

I thought he looked good in training. Dodgy during the matches though.

I'm not so sure. Central defenders have historically been late bloomers, and a lot of what makes a good centre half is experience and nous. I say we keep loaning him out for experience. Maybe a PL team wants him?

Ye i don't quite get why people are keen to get rid of players with decent potential. If say Wigan or Norwich want him why not wait and see how he gets on? A full year playing PL footy for a 21 year old CB could make the world of difference. Its not always black or white, maybe Wenger thinks he's still 12 months away from being ready or he's waiting for Djourou to leave or whatever. Same goes for Lansbury or any of the others.

What I would say though is that it does need to be a PL loan. Going to a championship club at this stage suggests they won't have a future here so in that case i'd say sell.

I wouldn't write off Bartley this early even if he spends another season on loan. With us having five senior CBs in the squad, we can't realistically offer first team opportunities to another two youngsters, so either him or Miquel has to go on loan. The reason Miquel was kept for the last two seasons I think is more down to his versatility as he can cover at LB as well and I think this is why we will keep him next season as well.
