klaus, i get the point about club culture. i think the best way to do that is to have a core of experienced players who've won things with arsenal and care about the club, its history and supporters. bergkamp, henry, pires didnt come over in their teens but grew to genuinely love the club anyway.

Very short look at Arsenal youth team player, Alfred Mugabo. Born in London, I think, but has opted to play for Rwanda. One of the youngest players at the U17 World Cup, might even be the youngest?

BTW - talk of Ashley Young on here recently, reminded me I saw on Young Guns a while back that his younger brother, Kyle, turned 15 in march, and is expected to push for our U16/U18s next season. Might be one to look out for, along with Mugabo.

That Mugabo lad doesn't look anything special, however checking the Wellington highlights (debut in La Liga) after that, he actually looks quite decent. Needs to build up his upper body strength but some potential there.

Of course he's a decent player. We wouldn't have signed him for that kind of money otherwise. The way the hype around him has turned into resentment among Arsenal supporters is pretty amusing. A young player struggles to adapt to life in Spain and people who have never seen him play all of a sudden decides that he's shit and start calling him names. You'd half expect them to know better considering that pretty much the same thing happened to Henry, Bergkamp and Vieira in Italy.

Not really. The bottom line is that no one has seen enough of Wellington to make bold statements about him as a player.

maybe because he can't get a game, though to be fair, he's only 18. but i think it's fair to say he has professionalism issues, and that lack of professionalism was not the reason why either of bergkamp, henry and vieira didn't set the world alight while at inter, juve and milan (those clubs are also a small step up from levante).

those guys got it, fabregas got it, wilshere got it, miyaichi seems to get it (not saying he's in the same league in terms of talent). wellington doesnt get it. you can say his behaviour is typical for 18 yr olds, but that's precisely the point - a typical teenager isnt expected to become a top class footballer earning millions.

Well the new manager apparently wants him back there, so who knows what went on.

Another player who supposedly had professionalism issues is van Persie. Who knows what the real story is with Wellington. Keeping touch with your friends through social networks and eating takeaway because you can't cook is as much a sign that you're struggling to adapt as a lack of professionalism. One of the benefits of having a fully developed youth organisation like we do at Arsenal is that you've got a system to make sure the kids are taken care of. That's not always the case when you send them out on loan to smaller clubs.

Maybe the fact that he eventually got a game and the manager wants him back is a sign that the penny finally dropped with him?

Nah, that manager is gone.

It's a new manager, the one that had Gilando last year with Salamanca. Wanted Wellington last year but he chose to play in La Liga.

I think these sorts of players need the right manager to guide them.

Hadn't seen that video, he's very Neymar-esque in the way he plays. Even down to the terrible playacting and angry demeanour!

You can see he really does have fantastic control and technique, the sort generally only players from Spain, Portugal and South America seem to have.

We'e got to get him on track next season, whichever club that's at.
