Would have personally wanted to see the others like Eastmond, Watt on it. But guess they could be sold at a price though so lets not waste.

Still those released are a good start.

Tom Cruise released? Oooooooh nooooooes. Was his end of season minority report bad? I thought the vanilla sky was the limit for him and that he'd stroll into the first team with his eyes wide shut. I didnt think the firm viewed promoting youngsters like him as risky business.

Hmmm i dont think it was mission impossible. He seemed to have made all the right moves, he seemed set to be a legend, a real top gun. To the outsiders this doesnt seem to stack up. Was the contract offer unreasonable or did he not like the colour of money we offered?

Hmmm thought it was clear as knight and day the boy will succeed. what next for him? will he go far and away? hope there's not too much collateral damage from all this. Hope he's ok and surrounding himself with atleast a few good men.

Watt is interesting. I'd rather keep him for a while. He's very good technically and knows how to finish a chance. He was ice cold in front of goal for the reserves.

Don't know about him being good technically, has always looked weak in that area compared to those around him. runs alto which is good but not arsenal quality.

Have to disagree there. Watt developed a lot in the reserves. Probably our most improved youngster during the FA Youth Cup run in -09. He knows how to beat his man and how to finish which makes him worth a punt in my opinion. You wouldn't expect him to make it at Arsenal when you consider the kind of competition he's facing, but I wouldn't have expected someone like Kolo Touré to make 326 appearances for us either when he arrived. Stranger things have happened.

Maybe, have never seen the big deal personally. One thing i will say is if JET had his attitude and work ethic he'd have had a great chance of making it.

I think we should cash in on JET while there's still a bit of hype around him. We could probably get someone to pay £4-5 million for him. He'll never make it at Arsenal.

I think it's only fair he gets one big shot in pre-season to really go for it and force his way into the first-team squad proper.

Is the youth policy doing a good job of creating players who can graduate to the first team and make a big contribution. Since Fabregas, the only reliable youth player has been Wilshere. Ramsey is also on the way, but I feel like we are not getting enough throughput from the youth ranks, particulalry from Wilshere-type players that we have had for a long time. After all, we have chosen to focus on the youth policy as a source for players as opposed to going out and buying ready-made starters.

Am I being unrealistic here?

JET is 20. It's not like it's a make or break season for him. It is, however, time to step up a notch. I think he and Lansbury and possibly one or two others - depending on whether Bartley and Coquelin goes out on loan again or decide to stay here - will get the odd game next season. Should be good for their development.

Szczesny, Wilshere and Djourou had their definite breakthroughs this season alone. Song the year before.

Szczesny, Bartley, Gibbs, Coquelin, Frimpong, Lansbury, Wilshere and JET isn't a bad crop from a age spread of about 2 years.

Yes. Wilshere is a brilliant result alone, but we've also got Szczesny and perhaps Djourou in the first team.

At any rate, it takes years to effect change at academy level. Barca are the poster-child for the academy production line and their current team is the result of 20+ years of work.
