The idea now, I guess, is that we spend our money only on top class players and the occasional squad filling bargain, similar to the position Barcelona are in. Hazard in the summer, for example, would fit that criteria.

Unless of course we struggle to keep ahold of our best players. Possible if we end up not winning anything again this year (however unlikely that may seem given we are in the fina of the CC).

yeah the who to sell and who to promote aspect is the most important going forward because we could end up looking like total idiots if we let the wrong one go. the youth players we keep have to be better than those let go. we can't have our players making it elsewhere while we're short ... and i'm not talking sidwell, bentley made it, but like rossi and pique type of made it where united got like 13m for the two combined and now they are worth like 70m combined. we won't be able to afford mistakes like that.

The critisism was before this season, he's stepped it up this year and looks like he's enjoying playing further up the pitch.

Watched a bit of the U18s lately, and we really do have some good talent coming through. The reason for the poor results this season is a combination of a very young team, because the previous crop were so good they've already progressed to reserve football, and in alot of cases, first-team football via loans, which has meant we have a number of 16 and 17 year olds making up the majority of our U18 team. The other reason is the overall quality of the team isn't so strong, and so whilst there all still some real talents, there are also some real weak-links.

The names to watch out for from this crop are Damian Martinez, an 18 year old Argentinian keeper, Martin Angha, a 17 year old Swiss centreback, Kyle Ebicilio, the 17 year old Dutch Diaby lookalike, Alban Bunjaku, a 16 year old English/Albainian Number 10, and Zak Ansah, a 16 year old English striker.

They all look like very promising talents. First team potential in all of them.

He's denied all that ManU business, and says his Facebook account was "hacked". I got linked to his Twitter a couple of days back, and he seems an intelligent, level-headed kid.

can't really tell anything from that, other than he's taller than the midgets in the barca academy. but allegedly, he's part of their best youth team since the fabregas/messi/pique team that used to regularly beat teams 12-0.
