Kroenke/Gazidis/Wenger out!

Love how the Ozil announcement makes out that Kreonke was basically putting up HIS money, doing the negotiation and convince the player and president to sell. We had the cash and have done for a while, Stan wasn't here, doesn't know anyone in football yet its part of his master plan somehow so we should all bend at the font of Kroenke the saviour.

Can't believe they would use us breaking our transfer record and getting a truly world class signing as an opportunity for a Kroenke PR exercise and for Wenger to flex his muscles over decisions on player recruitment. We are still missing a striker and totally balls'd that up this summer as we have been trying since may to recruit and failed at a number of turnings.

Over the moon that we have had out transfer day and got to crow out but we are still thin over a number of areas that we we're clearly looking to recruit for.

We've take 2 years to replace Nasri > Santi and Cesc > Ozil. How long is it going to take for RvP to be replaced?

It's not like I'm Stan's #1 fan, but the guy owns the club, has been relentlessly criticised for not spending since shortly after he took majority ownership, and just tripled our transfer record, you can forgive him a couple of brief remarks that were probably prepared by someone else anyway.

You know its true we've been incompetent this summer but it does seem A LOT of deals get done around deadline day. It does seem stupid that deadline day isn't before the season starts. Something in human psychology/buying tactics makes people relent to offers on the final day of trading and Wenger has probably done an 80/20 analysis and has given up trying to secure deals before deadline day because people are obstinate. It's stupid I know but unless you go nuts with a bid it seems clubs are reluctant to sell until the transfer window is almost shut (even though they want to sell); thinking they can get a better price.

Agreed. There are things to critizise about the Kroenke-ownership, but these sentences aren't among them.

There was no need to discuss Kroenke at all in this matter. He has said he is hands off and its Wenger's choice so bearing in mind the excessive cash balance he can be ignored, much as he seems to generally want to be as an owner. You can't just go brining him into the equation as if it had some sort of bearing and that he had to sanction it coming out of his pocket, which just isn't that case.

Doubt the club took time out of announcing Bergkamp to talk up Fiszman and Dein when these guys at least had a significant hand in paying for and getting the deal done respectively, what have Stan done in this instance?

If he is going to be hands off and not bother coming to games he can be kept as a silent owner, otherwise lets see you get involved.

@[deleted] The last minute deals we manage to make are to do with our competence, not our incompetence.

Our incompetence was on display when we seemingly switched our interest from Higuaín to Suarez without checking the exact nature of the latter's clause, but that was weeks ago.

Arguably it was incompetent not to sign Ba yesterday as well, though based on reports that was more a bad decision than a process error.

For what it's worth (not much) I believe you're wrong that Stan Kroenke doesn't personally approve the approximate budget for new player expenditure, and even the plans to acquire specific players, or types of players on some level before our activity begins in each transfer window.

Wenger and Gazidis would draft the player recruitment plan (with assistance) and present it for sign-off by the board. Obviously the plan would be highly contingent, but it would be likely to identify prospective targets and certainly the anticipated total nett spend.

The club's worth about £1bn on paper, or possibly a little more with the new revenues. A £50m+ outlay on Özil's fee plus initial wages would be very large to be delegated altogether.

Well with Podolski injured for at least three months, given the choice between having Ba and ~~an inanimate carbon rod~~ Sanogo on the bench when we need a goal, you'd still think it would've been smart to put £4m in wages and a £3m fee on the table for the player.

It's going to make the league difficult, and given our tough CL group it might affect progress in Europe. See how we go I guess.

Absolutely. Thinking about it is infuriating although I didn't see anything wrong in going for the superior footballer but doing it without having sure knowledge was utter incompetence. I would be fired from my job for such a misdeed at work.

For this transfer window it's as bad an act in extent as how good the Ozil signing is.

And I don't expect to see it again, even if we sign someone worth £50 Million.

This signing marks the start of something. I don't mind the statement at all.

considering keeping bendtner is going to cost close to 6m. his 2.7m in wages and the 3m that palace were going to pay, a 7m investment in ba is a no-brainer.

They reportedly pulled the plug when they realized Arsenal were about to sign Ozil.

So they moved a striker they initially wanted to keep so as to not make us stronger and in doing so kept the striker they wanted to loan.

Absolutely nothing you suggest is backed up by what the club or Stan (when he has spoken) says. All resources made by the club are available to Wenger, Gazidis has said that they have a budget but it is not small and that Arsene has final say on all matters from wages structure to fees paid a received.

Kroenke has at no point suggested that he is willing or able to give any input beyond "do you best with what we have", neither is he doing this at any of his other sports team where he clearly delegates out to the CEOs and equivalent of sporting directors. Hardly expect that if he does this for his basketball team (his favoured sport) than he will suddenly take a huge interest in a sport he barely attends fixtures for.

For all the shit I've given Wenger this summer, I think I agree with his decision to not pick up a striker. Ba would have been useful, but really, was there really anyone available that's better than what we already have? Higuain would have been a coup, but at 38m? Despite his gaping flaws, Giroud will probably get us close to 20 goals this season, and it's hard to think of anyone who was sold this summer (at a reasonable price) that would have done likewise.

Hard to see us spending again until next summer- if prices this summer are inflated, imagine what it's going to be like in January, especially on a ready-made striker
