It doesn't make sense. The warchest was there. The players were there. The months of June, July, and 17 days of August were there. What happened!? Utter incompetence. People suggesting to wait for the end of the window are delusional.

How Wenger could come up with a statement like "other clubs acted early" is beyond me. Basically he's saying that we were sleeping and thought things would fall into place.

Its a transfer window. Do you expect to be left happy? After selling all our world class players in previous windows. Wengers only way to disappoint this summer was to not buy anyone at all.

No, I would have sacked him after that because I knew the next season would be a write off and it was.

All we had to do was sign Ribery in the Sumer of 2007 and we would have won the damn title and our recent history would have been so different.

At the absolute minimum we definitely should have won, the Carling Cup in 2011. That was literally final chance saloon.

The last two years have been an absolute joke and the min Martins scored I knew this would happen.

Clearly thinking that we'd have a first XI strong enough to beat Villa at home and good enough, and fit enough, to get to the end of August without falling apart was indeed too optimistic.
That's how bad things are - believing that we're not complete and utter useless crap qualifies as optimistic.
Now that we've been beaten up by Villa and are reduced to bare bones I'm down with the misery.
