Why did I bring Martinez into the discussion? I thought it was self evident, Martinez has a technical quality, yes, on the level of Xavi, Iniesta, Busquet's? No. However his physicality, his dynamism, his more direct, incisive play, qualities that Fellaini does possess exposed Barca's midfield badly. So yes, Martinez is a better player than Fellaini, no one is disputing that I think, but the comparison can be made to dismiss the notion that Fellaini would be embarrassed like a pub player against Barca.
After saying all this, I'm far from convinced we should sign Fellaini, however I just found the argument we shouldn't because Barca would embarrass him, a ridiculous argument.
