A few years ago, most Arsenal fans were saying don't compare Ronaldo to Henry. Ronaldo has since eclipsed Henry. The only player who would've outplayed Bale in the Premier League this year is Suarez. Bale is on another level

Ok, I am sorry. Bale has done the one thing in winning the Copa Del Rey. My bad. He is clearly close to what Messi, Ronaldo, Henry and that ilk has achieved.

Bale has never played in a possession team just like Xavi's never played in a counter attacking team. Messi's basically only played for Barcelona. What would Xavi do with the space Bale's been "given"?

Eh? You mentioned Barca first by saying Bale wouldn't get in their side due to not being able to play short sharp footy. 😐 You were saying that was evidence as to why he's not as good as he's made out to be.

I'm saying he would get into the Barca side regardless of whether he is as good as Henry or Ronaldo. He would be their outlet. Moreover, it would be the players who Bale supposedly couldn't play with that wouldn't be able to play for Real necessarily because they've only played one way and in the same team/club.

Bale wouldn't be a certain starter for the current Barcelona side, but he would play a lot of football there because he is good enough. It is a moot point anyway, because he isn't the kind of player they would go for. They were reportedly interested in him as a left back, where he would shine, but he isn't exactly the kind of forward they usually go for.

Also, Xavi, Iniesta etc would walk into every team on the planet. Possibly not Xavi at 33, but a few years back that would be true.

you do realise that Bale has spent the last few years playing with Lennon and Huddlestone, right? to expect him to be a multiple trophy winner already under those circumstances is just downright hopeful. 20 goals and 15 assists is better than any of our guys has managed and is excellent for a first season, particularly one with injuries

Tim, that is exactly what I mean; it should be bloody obvious that comparisons with players like that are waaaaaaay too premature. Longevity is vital for a guy to be talked about as a great player, and Bale has done nothing so far. IMO he has to perform on current level and above for a few years before any such comparisons should even be made. It is the same thing with Suarez too.

Even after this one season Bale would already rank as one of English football's better conversions to La Liga. He's definitely obsessed with success.
