Are they? Thats yet to be seen. We should get stronger as players come back too. We're doing what we're doing now with Gnabry starting games. Arteta, Podolski, Theo, Cazorla, Chamberlain. Thats 5 pretty serious players to be missing at once. Especially the later 4 as they all play the same positions.

Yeah City and Chelsea have managers trying to figure the team out but they don't have key players missing. As we've seen in recent years City drop points whenever Yaya or Kompany are missing. And Kompany has a habit of getting suspended. They're lucky its no an African Nations year.

Chelsea have it all to prove. Their squad isn't as good as many here seem to think and they've been much closer to us, Spurs, etc than to a title challenge the last few years.

Desperation game next week between Sunderland and Man U. Both teams really, really need a win. Hope Sunderland, at home, can bring Man U into total crisis. 🙂

Would it be fair to say that Mourinho's decision not to start Mata and the sending off of Torres were the main reasons why Spurs managed a draw?

Soldado's looking a bit of a dud so far?

Mata is a strange one, but I can totally see why he prefers Oscar behind the striker. Torres also had a better game, second half until sending off really, than he has had since his Liverpool days. I can also see the reasoning behind having Ramires on the wing, but they clearly need him in the middle of the park though too.
Actually, the team Maureen put out should be good enough to beat Spurs, but they were really overrun in midfield. That changed in the second half with Ramires in there, but they certainly look less stable defensively with Oscar and Mata as wingers, as it were. Overall they looked a better team though. Maureen has some thinking to do!

Debating Mata and Oscar is kinda missing the point IMO. I doubt its really about Oscar being x percent better player than Mata. Its just Mourinho being a dick. He is never going to sell Mata. Its more a case of mindgames/manipulation/wierd sexual practices by Mourinho. He is a wierdo.

I don't think so. Maureen just happens to think that Oscar is better suited for the number 10 role both offensively and defensively. Can't really blame him for that either! A tactical mastermind would have worked it out though, to be able to play them both. Dare I say that Wenger has done a better job in accomodating Walcott?

Mourinho is creating a problem where there isn't one. Benitiez managed to fit them both in and Chelsea looked significantly better than they have at any point this season. You can debate all day long about why Jose refuses to do so but the bottom line is it's been proven under Benitez that it can and does work. Until he can prove otherwise with performances and results, it's the wrong decision.

They should've just given Benitez the job. He had momentum, he'd won the players over and he knows what he's doing. Abramovich's interventions have reliably been misjudged.

I imagine it was the burning desire to get Guardiola that played the biggest part in making sure Benitez wasn't considered.

In fairness to those Chelsea fans Benitez should never have been hired. He'd said enough about the club that I can see why their fans wouldn't forgive him.

Mourinho supposedly storms out of press conference, well that didn't take long. From the journalists going out of their way to suck up to him and now he probably feels giving him a hard time. He'll like this though, he likes being hated.

The fans hated him and made sure he knew about that when he joined. Typical small time mentality, going after him rather than supporting the club. His position beyond his short contract was untenable imo.

Not really. I think it is also obvious that Mata on the flank leaves a lot to be desired defensively, and he doesn't really look to exploit space behind the back 4 too often in attack. I can totally see the rationale behind what Maureen is doing, I just don't agree with his conclusions. Neither are you, most neutrals, and the majority of the Chelsea support. Then again, we are not 'The Special One'...

Also, it isn't like he is replacing Mata in the line up with chumps. We are talking players like Ramires, De Bruyne and Schürrle. They are all quality players in their own right, in that position.

Ramires isn't good on the wing or at AM. Schurrle and De Bruyne have done nothing yet to show me they're close to Mata's level. I don't think its defensible at all.
