He is hated here as well clearly. Just not as much.
It also creates story lines. I'm pissed about Chelsea winning. I couldn't care less about Mourinho himself whom you all seem fixated on. Your reaction is what he wants but also it's what helps to make the premier league season stories what they are. I don't want a league of pure Pellegrinis. That would be dull.
And it's true that the Spanish media take everything so seriously.
British press lapped up the legend of the Special One.
They love him.
Everyone was fixated on Fergie too, never saw you get het up about that.
So what anyway?
Dislikes are always intense and irrational in football.
The media love Redknapp as well. They love interaction. Even Ferguson smiled at Mourinho's cockiness as he admits in his book. They don't literally think he's better than Ferguson though or that he doesn't have his faults.
With Ferguson it was different. There was a grudging respect. With Mourinho people genuinely think he's shit which is weird for me. Particularly with the football purists (e.g. Gurgen) who think football is primarily an art and not a sport.
Fine if dislikes are irrational and intense. I'm fully aware of that. But if Mourinho was a City manager or even still the manager of Chelsea and he had the start to the season that Pellegrini had people would be on his back full time. It's only because Pellegrini has "class" that he is accepted.
