Not really. He'd be fine at a number of clubs on Europe, provided he'd get a free role. At Barcelona that freedom is given to Messi and there really isn't room for one more player to have that freedom within a team. Moreover, everything in Barcelona is geared towards getting Messi the ball. He will be the second option there, at best. That is also something he is not used to.
He will no doubt do well at Barcelona since he is a quality player. I don't think he will improve as much as he otherwise could have at another club however.
