The print version of Le Parisien is reportedly reporting that we made an official bid for Grenier.

So mangy was this bid that it's said that Aulas called the offer ‘disrespect' and at a press conference on Thursday.
He also announced that Grenier was staying at Lyon.

He'll be available for free next summer so in this instance I do see the point of our customary low balling.

Everything is derisory to Aulas. He's the toughest customer in world football.
I honestly did not spend time watching actual Ligue 1 games this season, just Champs League. How does this fool Grenier compare to Cazorla or Nasri?

Haven't seen him play live but piecing together an impression from youtube + comment he's inconsistent but talented, can control a midfield and keep an atracking ticking on a good day, takes some great freekicks but is liable to miss runs of games with what on the surface seem like minor niggles.
Nothing concrete to go on really.

And what does the real Chamakh have to say about that?

Juninho says Grenier has more talent at the same age than himself. Hmmm

Would you prefer us keeping Rosicky or just sign Grenier?

Not seen Grenier, but there's no reason to ship out Rosicky yet. He's a good squad member.

Yup has 2-3 good games in a season from the 9-10 he plays. Value for money.

Definitely plays more than 9-10 every season.

Definitely Rosicky over Grenier. Cant discount his PL and overall professional experience. Grenier would be a wild card and he would have to satisfy himself with a bench role which will delay his adaptation even further to the PL. If we have designs to challenge for the title we need options like Rosicky in our squad even if he is available for only 60-70% of the time.

He played exactly ten league games last season. Started six or so of them. If he's okay with that at his age then he's a pretty decent squad player to have around. We wouldn't miss a beat if he left though. One of the easiest players in the squad to replace.

Bullshit.

I'd be more than happy to get rid of Rosicky, but highly doubt Grenier is the man to do it long term. Why use a player who's not especially good as your benchmark?

My earlier stat was an exaggeration obviously but he's started about 80 league games in 7 years for us. Honestly when he first came he was really explosive and dynamite. He had a good shot from distance too. Post Injury layoff he seemed to have lost it for 2 years before he had a good second half of the season in 2011-2012. His shootings gone though. It's better having one dependable player than having him and diaby in the squad who are just plain unreliable.

He has extended his contract to 2016.
