I saw a SSN reporter saying it earlier this evening. They were reporting that Rooney is to hold talks with Moyes on Wednesday.

I think he'll remain at United. Why would he leave? I don't get it. I didn't get it in 2010/11 either.

Because people get bored in the same environment and fancy something new. In 2010 he wanted more money. Now I think he just wants a new club.

I suppose it may depend on how far United are prepared to go to hang onto him.
Maybe they don't want to keep him at all.

A new challenge is bullshit. If he wants out of United its because he's fallen out with people within the club or can't get along with Moyes.

I get the feeling there has been no decision yet between Rooney and United and thats why the stories all seem made up so far.

Still whatever he does he isn't going to come here to earn at least £50,000 less per week.

I dont think he really has anywhere else to go if he really is pushing for a move. That is if things will pan out as they seem to be atm - Cavani to Chelsea, Suarez to Real, Lewa to Bayern (next year on a free).

If he doesn't have any where to go its because people in football know something we don't. I think most of the stupid spending clubs will be after him.

We are one of those clubs, the clubs that could possibly afford him are:

City (Death threats)
Spurs (No CL football)
Liverpool (No CL football + Everton fan)
Chelsea (Possible)
Arsenal (Possible if we break our wage structure)

City, Chelsea and United are the only clubs in England that have players in Rooneys wage bracket. No one else comes close. He's on double what our highest earner makes.

Doesn't really matter. The query was as to whether we can afford Rooney, the answer is yes.

We can offer the wages & transfer fee that isn't a problem imo, whether we will is another question. With a huge uplift in sponsorship money, extra TV money and some excess players off the books we have more scope to move with wages. I think if they had to sell him domestically they'd rather sell to us than Man City or Chelsea because those two are more of a threat than we are. I don't think he would want to go abroad either though that would definitely be Man Utd's preferred option.

What it comes down to mainly is whether we can convince him that we are the right club for him. That is where we may fall short if we are in for him
