I remembered that window. One of the most exciting in Wenger's reign. 3 players bought on deadline day. I wished the youth captain didn't happen though. At least Craptista contributed a load in the carling cup run

Did we give Baptista a fair shout? Diarra too? I feel we shook these guys without really giving them sufficient opportunities to shine. I know we like to say players must grab the opportunity, but it doesn't always happen immediately. I feel Chamakh, for example, has the potential to do much better next season (15 goals) than he did this season, if he applies himself and gets chances. Diarra and Baptista were good players, who gave us something different from our tippus-tappus. Maybe another season wouldn't have hurt.

Baptista - dead right to get rid, he was rubbish imo.

Diarra - iirc he was desperate to keep his place in the French squad for the Euro Champ's. He should have been loaned out if he was so desperate because it was obvious there was the makings of a very good player there. Definitely a mistake to let him go.

It was actually pretty funny because as I recall, France flopped and he barely played. He then moved to Real Madrid in a WC year and missed out altogether.

Diarra leaving was a shame, but he's not a world beater or anything close. He would have been very useful for us over the past 3 seasons though.

If a player of Sol's quality and ability walked into the squad today at Centre Back, I'd feel we've markedly improved the squad even in the absence of any other comings and goings.

If I had to choose I'd pick Reading just cos they've some Irish players, especially want to see Long in the Premiership, though I reckon if they don't go up he will anyway.
