Fiorentina have reportedly sacked Delio Rossi tonight. Results have been shit since he took over from Mihajlovic. The incident with Ljajic was the last straw. The pressure must've really gotten to him.

both cisse's goals were top drawer. the 2nd one didn't even seem real, but the 1st might've been just as difficult. wenger, that's what forwards who can strike the ball can do.

2nd goal looked like those computer generated nike ads. and so casual. purple patch or no, the guy is devastating in front of goal.

It's not as purple a patch as some would think. He had 31 in his last 51 games in the Bundesliga. This is no hot streak from a Park or Chamakh.

If Newcastle make it into the Champions League, Cisse will be the 2nd most valuable player in the league this season, behind Robin. What he's done is remarkable. I was just looking at that 2nd goal again from last night. It's so spectacular it makes his first, a goal Bergkamp would be proud of, look rather plain.

i'm always baffled by why there are so few passing/combination goals in these goal of the season votes/compilations.

Has always been the Bergkamp vs Newcastle goal for mine anyway. A freak of skill, anticipation and grace that has never been repeated—whereas you see showboaters try for bicycle kicks and forty yard volleys every week, throw enough mud up and something's gotta stick.

I agree Kami, even I can appreciate a 20 pass movement that ends in a goal.
As Burnsey said all those bicycles and pile drivers are just hit 'n hope.
But Occums Razor- The beauty of simplicity- Nothing beats a lightning fast counter attack cross and belting header.

Agree with both of you. I love me a good team goal. Nothing beats seeing a team cut up.

As for the Rooney goal being voted better than the Bergkamp goal, let's see:
15 years more recent means approximately 1/3 of the fans weren't watching EPL when the Bergkamp goal was scored
Wayne Rooney plays for the most successful, best supported club and scored that goal in a grudge game

Under these circumstances, there's no way that Berkgamp was going to be placed ahead of Rooney. In United alone, Giggs against Arsenal, Beckham's halfway line goal, and a few Cantonas are surely better. A shinned overhead? Please

You simply can't find any goal of that in PL I think. Other than us who can do that?
