Hmm i'm not sure. Don't like Cazorla wide at all because he rarely stays there and we have fuck all width on the left. I do like the idea of a technical player in a wide position but only if they keep the shape and have good movement. Cazorla just plays like a central player in a wide position, constantly coming towards the ball. I'd just play Cazorla through the middle and buy someone for wide left/right who's a bit direct.

That would probably be the most effective use of our resources. Keep Cazorla in his best position, since he's good enough to start for us there, and upgrade in the positions where our starters aren't good enough (the rest of the front 6).

Having said that if Cesc is available, I wouldn't say no as long as we still upgrade the the rest of the front 6.

In fairness Gibbs does an excellent job of providing width.

Cesc coming back would be great. Best through-baller in Europe. Alas, coming back would be an admission that the Barca move didn't work out.

would also be extremely short-sighted given how old that tit Xavi is. Fabregas can be the 2nd most important player at Barca for the next 5 or 6 years if things fall into place

he can replace Iniesta or Xavi and the team would still be at the top.
his being asked to play 10 positions has damaged his brand, but he's still a great player. think of what happened to the lesser Ramsey once he found a consistent place on our team.

I just don't think he's effective in that role anymore. He would have been the natural successor to Xavi when he was 19/20, not now. He's developed into a different player.

Agree with Pepe. I think they've ready acknowledged that Cesc isn't really cut out to be a direct Xavi replacement.

why is it he could do something at 19 and can't do it at 25?
i think he can do more than he could at 19 (namely, score lots), and this has led to a different role. but he hasn't lost the skills that made him a great young prospect in a metronome role.

He's unlikely to score lots if he's shackled in that role. It'd be a waste.

He never was a meteonome though, even in his younger days. I've seen him play a few times instead of Xavi at Barca and the constant ball recycling, 150 five yard passes a game looks completely against his nature. He's a naturally direct player.
