This guy scored 19 goals in the PL with dross around him. Only 22 as well. Why haven't we payed the £12 million to get this guy yet!? Higher ceiling than Higuain, cheaper than Michu, more PL ready than Jovetic and Sanogo.

Is he 83+ skill and deceleration?

Looks like he has a 77 rating in Fifa 13( Benteke). That's mediocre but you have to take into account that he made the "leap" this year and he'll get the "move to a top 4 team" bonus if we buy him.If we bought him he'll easily reach 82+ in next year's installment.

More importantly, what are his Tekkers like? Are they mad crazy, or just fresh?

:hmm:

"Next Drogba" gets bandied about a lot these days, but I think the two Belgian hitmen (Lukaku and Benteke) are as close as any of the previous contenders. 19 goals on 104 shots for Benteke. 17 on 99 shots for Lukaku. I'll have to do research on this Bony character however...

He said that a while ago as well. He's really keen to come here.

Wonder if it's as a result of any contact, or if it's just self promotion.

I think he'd been an improvement on Giroud and as long as we get one 'super' quality player to play in one of the three position behind him I'd be happy. So him up top, Cazorla, Walcott and 'super' quality winger/AM. That and a above average DM, RB and CB. We could compete for the title with that. 5 first team signings though...

Do people really think we'll make a marquee signing? It's not happening.

Can't see us signing him when we have Giroud.

I cannot fathom how we even ended up signing Giroud. There's so much wrong with him, and so little that's really exceptional.

He's got an awful touch, is really slow, and a poor finisher. He's not terrible, but he's not a project either, at 26 years old. It's hard to understand what we saw in him that made us settle on him.

Lets get benteke. Guy scores goals, is young, physical and wants to be here

Benteke could work if and only if we signed another top forward - Benteke Walcott Podolski still reeks of mediocrity. Benteke reminds me of Lewandoski from what little I've seen.

I wouldn't call any of them mediocre, whether or not they'd combine into some sort of lethal strike force is another question.
Benteke doesn't fit the description of average for me.

I'm sold. Would rather him than Higuain in any case.

Ball is in Dick Law's hands now

I think the fact that affordable players, like Benteke and Papisse Cisse, are flying under the radar of Wenger, highlight the fact that he has lost that edge in the French transfer market. I don't see how, as a scout, you could deliberately pick Gervinho and Giroud over these two.

fairly cheap, no one else wanted him and he wanted to come here. the easiest/laziest choice.

If that's all it takes, I could be an Arsenal player too.

Little wonder we have so many shitsters.

Benteke and Michu was cheaper.

Seriously its come to a point there are so many able strikers out there I would get rid of Giroud and bring in 2 new strikers.

Didn't Giroud claim Bayern were interested in him?
But they had the good sense to wait, watch the Euros and abandon that mad idea

They wanted him instead of Mandzukic but he chose us...

Talk about dodging a bullet.
Now they are gunning for a treble!

Just goes to show how difficult scouting is.

Odd examples, neither are French nor were they playing in France before Prem teams snapped them up.

Tell you what though, you get much more time to shoot in Germany and that is one of Giroud's main problems here. Lewandowski, for instance, suffers from a similar problem.

Anyone else think Benteke looks a bit dim on the pitch? Got that impression in a couple of Villa games last season. Think he'd score a lot of goals here (obviously more than Giroud) but our build up play wouldn't be much better than its current low level.

You are right, Macca. Didn't bother to check but you get my point which still stands, i think.

Cisse played for a few Ligue 2 teams before moving to Freiburg. I don't think those examples show Wenger is losing his dominance over the French market but perhaps a few of the other lads at Newcastle do. Sanogo will see Arsene back as French market overlord though!

I don't think Wenger still has dominance over other clubs in the French League.
