This is pure negligence, criminal almost, as worse as a fully equipped doctor ignoring an ailing patient. I don't think we ever had an intention of signing anyone. Diaby and Rosicky returning from injury reduced any chance that was there.
Transfer deadline day. January 31
Thought it's until 23:00?
What a pathetic month for Arsenal and its fans.
No shiny new toys.
Don't know why we ain't going for Butland to challenge Szczesny for a spot. He needs someone to kick up his arse.
Stoke did well there signing him for just 5m.
We should have gone for Handanovic in the summer, Inter got him for less than £10m. Quality goalie, certainly in my world's top 5.
We've got a fully fit Fabianski back in training.
David Ornstein says we are signing a left back.
Nagatomo/Pereira please?
Probably bong
People saying its Monreal.
Meanwhile, Anzhi agrees 34m deal for Willian
A few have suggested Pereira. Other names are Monreal, who I like, and Amorebiete, who I don't.
Monreal would be a nice signing. Pereira would be very underwhelming.
By the way, Ornstein still says we're in for Villa.
Oh, and those who've said Amorebiete also say he's the most likely of all
Isn't he a centre back?
Villa and Monreal would be unreal

And an undisciplined one to boot.
Wouldn't mind hearing a bit about the names above (not Villa ).
Disappointed, as usual, but cannot say i am surprised.
Gibb's unexpected injury is the only realistic hope of a signing, imo.
Saha available. Watch us sign him as a last resort

A slow, ill-disciplined one to boot. REALLY weird move. Could be another 'Park' type signing, unless there's an injury crisis, and we never actually play him.
And by 'most likely', I meant that he's the most likely signing we can make - not that it's him or Monreal or Villa or Pereira.

How has Pereira done in Inter? The last time he was at Porto he was awesome.

He is a Mertesacker kind (tall and clumsy), except that he is the record holder for the most red cards in La Liga. Commits into rash dangerous challenges, but generally a very good passer. Weird move considering there are plenty of good cheap CBs out there
Anything yet?
asa: It would be a weird signing alright. He's not exactly young either.
Clrnc: He's been a bit on and off. Nagatomo, who's awesome, has been playing on the left a bit which has limited Pereira's playing time. I've only seen him a couple of times but I haven't been impressed with him. Think the general consensus is that he's improving slowly. I didn't watch him during his Porto days though.
Becks says he's playing for free. Salary donated to children in Paris.
Even with cynical thoughts, well done if true.

on the plus side he doesnt like barca any more than we do
We are in for Nacho Monreal it seems.
If we sign Monreal and that Bilbao defender will everybody be happy with our transfer window? I really do think we need reinforcement attacking wise. Not good enough for me if we only sign those 2
Christian Martin @askomartin
Confirmado: Fernando Amorebieta esta viajando con el Atl Bilbao a Valladolid y NO deja el club hasta Junio x lo menos
Great news. We are not signing that Bilbao defender
that dude an enlarged squillaci?
makes sense
Just remembered squillaci against anelka, the horror.
Monreal looks like Peter Crouch.
Monreal please!
Gibbs must be out for months if were suddenly going for a leftback.
Would it surprise you if he was?
From Monreal's Wikipedia page:
Ignacio "Nacho" Monreal Eraso (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈnatʃo monreˈal eˈɾaso]; born 26 February 1986) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for Málaga CF as a left defender. He is currently flying to London, to sign for Arsenal, and even on a plane he is more useful than André Santos
Uhoh, Gibbs have some real competition on hand now because Monreal is quality.
Won't be able to play in UCL though, but good signing.
Get Diame and Villa too and we'll call it an amazing transfer window.
Last minute panic buy of a defender.
Jeez, shades of the Squillaci and Santos purchases.
I expect a very suspect stop gap stand in for Gibbs as opposed to any kind of quality.
Heard from many directions he is indeed on his way to London. Definitely something in this one.
