Loved Leave No Trace, especially Thomasin McKenzie's performance. It's slow and it doesn't have much of a plot, but just following the two characters is enough, which to me is a sign of a good movie.

The Netflix flat earth documentary is a classic in the vein of The Decline of Western Civilization and King of Kong. I really enjoyed his t-shirt collection, and this one in particular. Real good stuff.

Finally saw The Death of Stalin on the weekend. What a wonderful film. The idea to portray the story as a bleak absurdist comedy is genius, even though you can imagine most of what happens in the film to be historically accurate. I mean Khrushchev really did turn up in his pyjamas.

It's amazing, isn't it? It might be my favourite thing from last year. I nearly laughed myself to tears when they tried to roll him back into bed.

Haven't seen the film. I'm guessing it's decent - nothing more, nothing less. What I do think is incredibly sad is that people have been hating on this film for months because of Brie Larson being very public about her feminist views. These douchebags have decided to go in and vote 1/10 without having seen the movie because they think Brie Larson hates men. There was something similar when Black Panther premiered as a protest to "how politically correct everything suddenly has to be".

Same idiots who trashed the Star Wars movies because they put women at the centre. Sad people. Initial reviews suggested it was a good movie. Looking forward to it.

It's a shame, but I think these things are going to get increasingly common since so many user rating sites like IMDb are set up in a way that allow people to game the system. You'd think this would make the need for actual film criticism (and the promotion of it) more obvious than ever, but alas.

I read somewhere that Rotten Tomatoes is changing the way it allows people to rate films, at least in pre-release, largely because of these morons.

Captain Marvel was decent enough. I don't think it was lacking some great action sequences early on, but at least the final one was great. Young Samuel L. Jackson looks fantastic, Brie does well with what she's given. I kind of hope they don't give the directors the sequel as well, because I feel like the movie could've been made better.

Also, I didn't get how the cat could get so much attention from viewers, but now that I've seen it, it really is funny.

I enjoyed it a lot. I was never swayed by the right-wing virgins whining but the reviews I'd seen from hardcore marvel fans were lukewarm to outright negative, so I was very pleasantly surprised.

Being a casual fan seems to make everything better. Going to watch it on Monday and am looking forward to it.

I thought it was good but I found it hard to get completely carried away. Maybe I’ve reached comic book saturation or she has the Superman effect on me where she is so powerful as to seem unrelatable and unmatchable. We’ll see. As an origin movie it is thorough, but the comic timing and action set pieces aren’t up to par with the best in the Marvel stable.

It is less about being a hardcore fan though. These are just intolerant people. And it doesn’t need to be a large number of them to generate the noise. Just an active clutch of incels and trolls

If you look at the uploads of the guys who do these poisonous youtube videos, they consist of nothing but these kind of videos. They're not hardcore fans of anything but their own agenda.

It's kind of the opposite for me. [spoiler]The scene at the end where she was "unmatchable" was by far the best part of the movie for me. I've always disliked Superman movies for the reason that he's unrelatable and unmatchable, but I thought they did well with showing that she had been held back and when she was finally free she would easily overpower them. Obviously she'll face a much tougher enemy in End Game, but in this movie the struggle was to realize how powerful she is, so it didn't seem over the top to me.[/spoiler]

I was replying to Pep, I’m not talking about the ones downvoting because she’s a feminist or a woman or a near all black cast or w/e, though there’s probably a lot of overlap.
