Saw it with a batch of friends yesterday. My girlfriend had just gotten off night shift so she slept through half of it 😆
Anyway, it's really really good, for a Marvel film.
That said, personally I didn't like it as much as Ragnarok. It wasn't as funny, or as impressive aesthetically. I didn't find it as involving a film as Creed either, but that's a great film. But it was pretty interesting seeing the rhetoric of decolonisation in a Hollywood film and I think it does way, way better on the "positive representation" front than Wonder Woman. The cast is great.
As a friend of mine commented when we were leaving, Wakanda is a very enigmatic concept to drop into the politics of the transatlantic slave trade, reparations, colonisation of Africa, and the civil rights of African-Americans (and obviously this becomes part of the plot). A totally secret, super-advanced, very wealthy African nation whose economy is apparently in a bubble. I think after the initial very positive reaction to Black Panther dies down there's going to be some very interesting writing about it.
